Chapter 40
Mizail
After showing Nuri her new shop, we headed back to the house as she sat me down on one of the couches while pacing back and forth. She didn't say anything for a while before she suddenly turned to me as I sat up straight. She frowned for a second before her features softened.
"It'd be better if you'd just show yourself to him." She sighed while looking off to the side as I followed her gaze before something began to materialize beside her. It was this large beast that reached her waist but I suspected that if it stood on its hind legs, it'd almost be my height. Dark red eyes stared back at me as I looked between Nuri and the beast. "Mizail, do you remember Yareli explaining entities?" She asked as I nodded before she gestured to the beast next to her. "This was my mom's entity that she named Ryuu. I named it Keahi when I was little, thus partially binding myself to it." She confessed as I turned my attention to the beast with a surprised look on my face.
"That is true indeed." An unfamiliar voice spoke as I looked around. "No need to worry about Nuri as long as our contract lasts." It added as I turned back towards the beast who nodded.
"That was Kaehi. It has a way of letting other people hear it through their minds. Very powerful entity." She explained as the furry beast raised its head. "And very arrogant. Loves to be in charge and has been trying to get me to talk to you about my worries." She laughed as the beast looked at her accusingly before looking back at me.
"I am not arrogant." It huffed like an annoyed fledgling. "Anyway, we've been introduced. I'm going back. Your mom promised me some new human treats she found in one of her books." It explained as Nuri rolled her eyes as the beast went back into her necklace in a cloud of red.
"That was Keahi, here and gone like the wind." She smiled tightly as I couldn't help but laugh and reach for her. She eased into my lap while kissing the side of my face. "So, tell me what are the preparations for the sacred ritual?" She hummed as I buried my face into her hair.
"I'd have to remain in this form or my weakened form then we'll leave late at night when the stars are high in the sky. We may only take a small portion of food and light clothes. We'll be disguised in our cloaks and depending on whether we're Alorean or Odeolan, you'll either ascend or descend the interior of the mountain. Besides that, I'm unsure of what happens after that." I explained while nuzzling the side of her face.
"Wouldn't we have to say something to somebody?" She asked as I smiled.
"I already contacted Aiyie while you were getting dressed earlier. We can perform our ritual whenever we want." She smiled at me before kissing my forehead. She had this interesting look in her eyes. "Nuri, what's that look?" I questioned while eyeing her suspiciously as she turned fully in my lap so we were staring each other in the eyes. She gently held my face in her hands as those hazel eyes seemed brighter than usual.
"We're not busy for the next few days, right?" She asked as I nodded before she kissed me. "So, why don't we prepare for our sacred ritual and have it in a few days time?" I searched her eyes for anything that would let me know that she was kidding or anything but all I was met by was warmth and excitement. "I'm serious, Mizail. Or am I rushing this?" Worry filled those beautiful eyes as I pulled her closer.
"No, my heart, but I do not want you to feel pressured into going through with it." I explained as I leaned forward, our lips brushing. "I would love to have you as my wife." I added while gently biting her bottom lip. "If things keep going the way they are, we might even be married before the mating season comes."
"Meaning, the better to start our sacred ritual sooner." She quietly laughed while kissing me, her soft tongue exploring my mouth as I held her close. Her kisses were sweet as I slowly pulled back to stare up at her. She gently caressed my cheeks while smiling. "Your eyes are gold. How beautiful." She sighed while kissing my nose. "I won't feel pressured by it. Not when it's you."
