Through New Sight (Eyeless Jack x Reader)
~Ben's POV~
"All right, here we go again . . . "
A long, green cap resting upon a blonde head of messy hair popped through the screen of a dusty TV. The dust in the air shifted as Ben fully stepped out into the "living" room of the dainty wooden cabin.
Silence was the only thing that greeted Ben as he absentmindedly walked past closed doors of empty rooms, making his way toward the main entrance of the cabin. A small red hand-held cooler bobbed at his side with every hollow-sounding step he took.
Once he reached the main door, he swung it open, letting soft, orange light spill into the cabin's interior and cling onto the frowning apparition. Stepping outside, Ben closed the door behind him and looked around briefly before lifting his feet off the ground, opting to float out into the woods instead of walking the whole way there.
The setting sun's last bit of glowing rays provided enough light for the specter to easily navigate through the forest trees. Not that he needed it, though. Ben had made this trek towards his mess-of-a-friend for quite some time now, so he knew just where to go, especially since he had previously marred a few trees along the way with some electricity.
Ben sighed as he weaved around marked trees as if he were merely carrying out a weekly chore. He swore that if it wasn't for him harvesting and bringing organs for Jack to eat (something that Ben still hadn't gotten used to, even after a whole year of doing it), then Jack would've probably starved himself to death. If that was a thing he could do. Ben wasn't sure if Jack's instincts to eat would overrule his dumb commitment to sulking . . .
But he wasn't willing to find out the answer to that question.
It was better to just keep him fed, alive, and out of trouble, just as he had promised he would do long ago.
After a while of floating about, Ben spotted the outline of the sunken old delivery van he knew contained Jack, just as the last bit of sunlight vanished and gave rise to the dark, night sky.
Ben descended to the ground as he drew near, letting the sudden sound of soft leaves crunching under his boots tell Jack that he had arrived. At the back of the van, Ben pushed aside a black blanket acting as a makeshift curtain. He had given Jack this blanket back when he realized that this spot was going to be more than just a temporary stay.
"Heyyyy, Jack," Ben spoke out softly like a dad trying to talk to his sad, holed-up son as he slowly entered.
A mass of patterned blankets shifted ever so slightly in the back of the dark van. Ben leaned down and turned on a string of fairy lights: another one of his additions to make this shell of a van feel somewhat hospitable.
The string of lights illuminated the interior of the van in a brilliant shine, causing the mass of blankets to shift once more until it revealed Jack's vibrant blue mask staring back at Ben. Although the mask was visible, the rest of Jack remained covered under the pile of blankets.
"I brought you more fooood," Ben cooed as he gently waved the cooler in front of him. The organs unceremoniously rocked against ice inside it.
Jack immediately fell over on his side before rolling over and smothering himself beneath the blankets again.
Ben exhaled and rubbed his forehead with his free hand as he set down the cooler with his other. He wasn't sure what else to expect, but he knew he was getting tired of the same old nothing going on with Jack.
