A few weeks had passed since you and Onceler had last spoken. You immersed yourself into work, finding any small details that needed to be touched up. You were back to your old self, business came first. You also quit smoking, finding you were able to focus more than usual.

You hadn't spoken to your family though, your subconscious told you to ring them up. Taking a break at lunch, you rang your sister.

"Hello?" She spoke

"Hi Izzy, is mom there?"

"Yeah , well, she's asleep. Hang on-" A short pause before,

"MOM Y/N'S ON THE PHONE SHE WANTS TO TALK TO YOU" You heard mumbling in the background then your mothers voice.

"Y/N! How are you honey?"

"I'm good, business is great"

"I don't recall asking about business Y/N. How are you?" You thought for a moment, you still weren't used to personal questions, even from your own mother.

"Well, I quit smoking." You didn't really know what else to say. Your personal life was pretty non existent at the moment.

"That's good, having boy problems?"

"Ugh mom, no! Men are the least of my problems right now."

"Ok ok, I get it. Do you want to go for lunch or something, We could go to a bar later on if you want" You thought about going to Al's bar, but those memories flooded back.

"I know a nice place for lunch, I'll pick you up in 20 OK?"

"Perfect, looking forward to it" You hung up, sighing deeply.

After picking your mom up, you drove to a secluded restaurant, on the edge of town. It was your go-to when you just wanted to be alone. You also knew the chefs, connections to your father.

"This is quaint, I was expecting something more flashy from Little Miss Successful" Your mom nudged you, you rolled your eyes.

"It's more private, away from prying eyes. Plus I know the chefs."

"Ah, that's understandable. Lets go in" You both walked into the restaurant, you felt at home here, it reminded you of your dads old restaurant.

"Y/N? How ya doin" One of the chefs had poked there head round the corner when they saw your car pull up.

"Just peachy thanks , can you whip up two specials for me and my friend here?" He glanced between the two of you curiously, before shrugging. That's what you loved about this place, no one cared who you were or what you were. It was a safehouse in some way.

"Comin right up!" He walked off as you and your mom made yourselves comfy at a window table.

"So.. Tell me the truth, who was the poor guy you beat up this time eh?"

"No beatings mother, and no poor guy. It's back to normal now". You stuck to your story. Though you kinda missed Onceler, you used Tom as a form of rebound. He was good for distractions.

"Well something must've happened, otherwise you wouldn't of called me" Fuck, she knew you too well.

"No, he's just a guy. Nothing special."

"Honey, I can see it in your face. There's no way he's 'just a guy'". She said. You knew it deep down, though you would never admit it, you missed Onceler. More than you'd like. The feeling you felt made you feel extremely uncomfortable. So, you shoved it to the back of your mind in hopes it would just disappear. Of course, thats not how it works unfortunately for you.
