"That's fine," Mirio smiled. "Another time, then."
"Yes, of course! And Tamaki-kun," you prodded, lightly tugging on the boy's hands to pry them off his face. He bit down on his lip, still blushing fiercely, avoiding your gaze. You smiled. "I was wondering if I could get your number. So that we actually have the chance to talk a bit more and get to know each other."
That made him look back at you. "My number? You seriously want it...? Oh," he realized, shamefully bowing his head, "or is this another dare?"
"Dare? What are you talking about?"
"Tamaki," Mirio uttered sternly. "Don't say things like that. [Name]-chan seems like a really nice girl. You don't actually still think that, do you?"
"Well, I-I guess not," he swallowed.
"Then just give her your number."
Tamaki gave you another flustered, still mildly confused look, but dug into his pocket to pull out his phone. You proceeded to exchange numbers and smiled proudly at the brand-new contact. Now you actually had the opportunity to talk to him, and not just hope for little impromptu run-ins around campus.
"Thanks, Tamaki-kun." You gave him another hug, even though you knew it would make him that much more embarrassed, but you were a little selfish in this regard. Tamaki was somehow completely still and shaking at the same time, his hands extended awkwardly since he didn't know where to place them. "Oh," you remembered, after you'd finally pulled away and released the red-faced boy, "we actually have our final practical exam coming up soon. Since you guys are third years, you must've done the same test before, right? Do you remember what it was like?"
Tamaki was hardly thinking properly anymore, so Mirio answered on his behalf. "It was pretty much like the entrance exam," he said. "You know, where you go up against all those robots and gather points. Nothing too complicated."
Oh, shit.
"Um, right," you answered, forcing a smile. "Yeah. Not too complicated. Thanks for letting me know. I'll see you guys around."
"For sure!"
"B-Bye, [Name]..."
You smiled, thankful that Tamaki had mustered up the courage to look you in the eyes again and say goodbye. For some people, this news might've been great. After all, pretty much your entire class had gotten into U.A by clearing the entrance exam-pretty much everyone except you. This was the whole reason Mikael had gone through the trouble of helping admit you on grounds of special recommendation. Your Quirk would be useless against anything other than people. The best you could hope for was to use other students in your class to help you get through it, but if you had to clear the stage one-by-one, you were pretty much screwed.
You really didn't want to fail. You wanted to go to the mountain lodge with everyone else. What would happen if you were the only student to not pass both exams? Not only would it be absolutely mortifying, but it would feel super lonely too.
"Just hope for the best," you mumbled to yourself, finding your way back to your friends' table. Izuku welcomed you back, having already gotten a tray of food for you, and you grabbed a seat beside him. Uraraka cocked her head at you from across the table.
"Where'd you go, [Name]-chan?"
"Oh, I was just grabbing some cute guy's number."
Izuku choked on his food. "What?!"
[Tamaki]
