Lorna
Ugh, the first day of school. My alarm clock blares its annoying tune, and I groan, hitting the snooze button with all the strength I can muster. Why does school have to start so early? Rolling over, I bury my head under my pillow, trying to escape the impending doom of waking up.
My phone, however, has other plans. It's hopping around on my bedside table with its annoying ringtone. I snatch it up, squinting at the screen. Sarah's face beams at me from the caller ID. I swipe to answer.
"Hey, sleepyhead! You better get your butt out of bed or we're going to be late for the first day!" Sarah's voice rings through the phone, and I can practically see her waving her arms around in exaggerated panic.
I groan again, "Give me ten minutes, will you? Meet me in the kitchen."
Heather, my whirlwind of a mother, lets Sarah in. She's always been a force of nature, especially in the mornings.
In 10 minutes, I rush down the stairs, hoping to at least grab a banana before we're out the door. "Hey, Mom," I manage to say in between bites, "I'll catch you later. Don't worry, I'll eat something at school."
My mom raises an eyebrow, giving me a skeptical look. "You better! You can't survive on just a banana, you know."
I give her a quick peck on the cheek, my backpack slung over one shoulder. "Love you, Mom. Gotta dash!"
Sarah's already waiting impatiently by the door, tapping her foot. "Fashionably late, remember?" she teases.
I roll my eyes, "Yeah, yeah. Let's go before we become legends on the first day of school for all the wrong reasons."
We rush down the street, Sarah's laughter trailing behind us. "You and your sense of humor, Lorna. It's a wonder you survived the summer without school to keep you entertained."
I chuckle, "Hey, the summer might have been dull if it weren't for my gripping novels and riveting Netflix marathons."
Sarah pretends to gasp, clutching her chest dramatically, "Oh, the thrill of it all!"
As we approach the school building, Sarah leans in with a sly grin. "Ready for another year in this shit hole..
I give her a wink, "Absolutely! Who knows, maybe this year I'll discover a hidden talent for interpretive dance during chemistry class."
Sarah bursts out laughing, "Oh, please, Lorna, I'll be your first fan!"
We finally reach the bustling halls of the school, our laughter blending with the excited chatter of students. As I step through the doors, I can't help but feel a surge of anticipation. Another year, another chance for hilariously awkward moments and unexpected friendships.
Sarah nudges me, "Look alive, Devine! Let's make this year one for the books."
Definitely ,,we set off into the school, ready to embrace whatever chaos and comedy high school has in store for us.
Entering my first class of the day, English, Sarah has science with Austin, that should be fun, I giggle to myself as I know Austin will torment the life out her ..
I quickly scan the room for an empty seat. Spotting Samia and Kady engaged in conversation, I make my way over to join them, looking forward to some familiar company.
Just as I'm about to join their chat, a sudden grip on my shoulders startles me. I let out an embarrassing yelp and instinctively swat at the intruder. Turning around, I see Connor with a playful grin on his face.
"Connor, seriously? You scared the living daylights out of me!" I scold, trying to catch my breath.
He chuckles, raising his hands apologetically. "My bad, Lorna. Couldn't resist, you looked so focused on the girls.
