I knew immediately from Lorna's face and her hesitation that Darcy had said something to her. I had already suspected that Darcy had an issue with Lorna, though I didn't know why. The night Lorna stayed at my house when her nana fell ill, I went to get a glass of water. As I passed Lance's room, I overheard them talking.
I couldn't make out everything, but it was clear they were discussing Lorna. Lance was telling Darcy he only saw her as a little sister and that Lorna was my girlfriend. He explained that Lorna had been through a lot lately, which was why everyone was being so overprotective of her.
I could hear her protesting and asking him to keep his distance from her. He snapped at her telling her that already explained and if she continued to carry on like this, she could leave. I didn't stay longer to hear anymore.
But the next day I confronted Lance about it. I didn't want to escalate things, but I told him Darcy needed to rein in her jealousy. He agreed but tried to defend her, saying she'd been hurt before and had insecurity issues. I told him that wasn't my problem, but if she kept throwing dirty looks at Lorna, we were going to have a problem.
He told me I was overthinking it but promised to have a word with her. I let it go since I could tell he liked her—she was the first girl he'd brought home in a long time. Lance wasn't usually one for relationships.
So when I saw the fury in his eyes as he confronted her, and Lorna's reaction when I told her they were having a lovers' quarrel, I knew it was about her. What I didn't expect was for Darcy to accuse Lorna of sleeping with me, my dad, and Lance. My blood boiled at her audacity. I was livid.
I stormed over to where they were. Darcy was pleading with Lance, trying to get him to listen.
I roared, "Who the fuck do you think you are?" She jumped, not expecting me to confront her too. She tried to hide behind Lance, but he stepped away, telling her to repeat to me what she had said to him. She stuttered, giving him a helpless look.
"Go on," he yelled at her. "Tell him."
I glared at her, waiting for her to speak, but she wouldn't open her mouth.
Lance snickered. "What, cat got your tongue now?"
"Alright, I'll tell him then," Lance said, throwing her an angry leer. "Darcy here said she saw Lorna and Dad flirting. So she decided to confront her and asked if she was fucking all three of us."
"She claimed she was just looking out for us," he added mockingly.
"Is that so," I said, keeping a straight face even though I wanted to laugh at her pathetic excuse. "Well then, if that's the case, I should beat up you, Lance, and then go after Dad for touching my girl." I stepped closer to Lance, signaling him to play along.
Her face drained of color. "No, please don't hurt Lance, maybe I misunderstood," she whined, trying to backtrack.
"Okay then, let's go ask my dad why he was flirting with someone young enough to be his fucking daughter," I gritted. "Are you accusing my dad of liking young girls?" I seethed.
"W-what? No, it was just Lorna, your dad didn't do anything, I swear," she said, trying to hold back tears.
"You're a liar. As if Lorna would do something like that. Our dad is like her second father.
You're nothing but a blow-in , a jealous little bitch who's insecure, making up lies about the most genuine girl who wouldn't harm a fly just to make yourself feel better. I saw it the moment you saw her—you were jealous."
