"Maaga po ang labas niyo?' I asked pagkatapos kong magseat belt. Sanay na akong sumakay sa sasakyan niya dahil ika apat na beses na itong nangyari ang paghatid niya sa akin sa apartment.
"Halfday ang sched ko today, why?" Nagkibit balikat na lang ako, I wanted to ask her bakit ganitong oras siya umuuwi but I remain silent. Nagfocus na lang din siya sa pagdadrive. I stared at her memorizing her features. Madali kasi akong makalimot ng mukha kaya naman tinitigan ko siya.
"I might melt." She said and I saw a ghost of smirk in her lips. I rolled my eyes.
"You are not an ice cream Miss." I smirked too dahil sa sinabi ko siya naman ang umirap.
"I am an ice Miss Alba, and your stares are like fire." Rebut naman nito hindi talaga nagpapatalo.
"May anak ka na Miss?" Pag-iiba ko sa topic. She glanced at me for a second and rolled her eyes one more time.
"I am very much single Mayor." May pagsusungit niyang saad. Malay ko bang single siya pero may anak diba?
"You, are you single?" Her questioned made the smile in my lips fade slowly. Tumingin ako sa labas ng bintana at mapait na ngumiti pabalik.
"I think I'll be single forever now Miss." I answered and that made her look at me but na lang ay red light.
"Why?" Magkasalubong na kilay niya akong tinanong.
"Love is too expensive I can't afford it anymore." Simple kong sagot.
"That's deep, where is that coming from?"
"From my mouth Miss." Pilosopo kong sagot kaya naman tinapunan niya ako nang masamang tingin.
Natahimik kami muli at umaambon narin pero good thing malapit na kami sa apartment ko. Pero papaliko pa lang kami sa eskinita ng apartment ko ay biglang bumuhos ang ulan. I don't have an umbrella at mababasa ako pagbababa but all is fine since makakapagpalit din naman agad ako.
"Thank you sa paghatid Miss." I said as I unbuckled my seatbelt. She nodded and I was about to go out, but the rain was heavy pouring. I turned around and looked at Miss who is waiting for me to get out.
"You should come with me inside my apartment at patilain muna ang ulan bago ka umuwi. It's raining hard delikado na magdrive na ganito ang panahon." Lintaya ko and for three seconds, she thought about it and then nod. Wala rin siyang payong kaya nabasa kami.
I opened my apartment at kumuha agad ako ng towel. I gave her the new one and she sat down as she wiped her hair. Nakasquat siya sa carpeted floor ko. She is wet Kahit tumakbo naman kami.
"You should shower Miss." But she gave me a deadpan look and afterwards she looked at her clothes. Oh, I know why.
"I will let you borrow some of my sister's new clothes in stock of my closet don't worry, and the undergarments are new." I told her and she immediately got up and went straight to the bathroom with the towel.
I prepared her the clothes and when everything is ready, I knocked on the door of the bathroom. She opened it pero ang pinalabas lang niya ay ang kamay niya. Cute. I gave her the clothes and started preparing for a snack. Thankful that I have mango cake na nasa ref at chips kaya kinuha ko ito at nagprepare na para makakain naman ang bisita ko. Nagtimpla narin ako ng juice. The door of the bathroom opened at ilinuwa siya nito. I looked at her from head to toe. She is indeed a beauty. Bagay na bagay sa kaniya ang suot niyang jogger pants and a fitted shirt. Her curves are showing.
"Have a snack first, maliligo rin ako." I said and I left her in the table and proceed to the bathroom.
Madali lang din akong natapos kaya lumabas na ako. I saw her squatting again in the carpeted floor at naka on na ang TV she is watching harry potter kay tinabihan ko na ito, dala-dala narin niya ang mga pagkain doon.
"Why sit here?"
"It's comfier at para narin hindi madumihan yung bed mo." She answered yet her eyes were fixed in the television. I nodded kahit hindi naman niya nakikita at nagsimula naring kumain at nanood.
After some time ay naramdaman ko itong humilig sa balikat ko. Her eyes are still on the TV kaya hinayaan ko na lang siya. It felt comfortable. I haven't watched harry potter yet pero nabasa ko na ang the whole series, but I don't want to ruin my imagination about it kaya naglaro na lang ako ng tetris sa laptop ko. The laptop was near my place kaya hindi na ako napatayo para kunin iyon.
The rain is still pouring hard at mag aalas siete na ng gabi.
"Miss you can stay here for the night po. The rain is still heavy pouring outside." Ani ko pero tutok parin siya sa pinanuod niya. I tapped her thigh in order to get her attention.
"What?" iritado siyang lumingon sa akin. She really is cute.
"You can stay for the night here; the rain is still heavy." She looked at me intently then nod and watch the series again while her head is in my shoulder.
"Okay because I am planning also to watch the whole series of harry potter here." Malumanay niyang saad napapailing na lang ako. She's like a kid. Pero even if we are this close hindi naman ako naiilang. I can feel that I am comfortable with her.
"Let me cook our dinner." Tatayo na sana ako ng pigilan niya ako.
"I'll cook." She stood up and paused the movie.
"Baka malason pa ako kapag ikaw ang nagluto." She wore a sly smile as she said that kaya naman dumapa na lang ako sa bed ko at hinayaan siya sa gusto niya.
"What is your favorite food Kaethrein?" This is the first time tinawag niya ako sa pangalan ko.
"Fish fillet and calamares Miss." Sagot ko naman at pumikit. Iidlip muna ako dahil kulang talaga ako sa tulog ngayong araw.
Bahala na si Miss kung paano niya galawin ang kusina ko.
Nagising ako sa masarap na amoy at kumakalam narin ang sikmura ko. I got up and I saw Miss Cruz preparing the table. Tinulungan ko narin siya nagulat pa siya ng makita niya akong gising.
"You are awake. Let's eat now." She sat down and I did the same too. Ang linuto niya pala ay ang mga paborito ko that's why she asked.
"Thank you for this, it's delicious." I commented as my mouth were full of the food.
"Of course, ako ang nagluto so it should be delicious." May pagkahangin rin pala si Maam.
During the course of the dinner ay nag-uusap lang kami tungkol sa mga bagay-bagay about academics and my university.
The night ended with so many laughters. As I look at Miss Cruz beside me in my bed, I just thought that she is a rare jewel.
She scoots over and hugged me and my breathe hitched, but I calmed down in her arms after a minute. This feels like home.
