"I see you already tucked into my stash," Nevada smirked, pouring you a glass of whiskey as you sat down at the bar.
"Sorry about that," you sighed, taking a swig, "If I'd known someone was livin' here, I woulda asked."
She cocked a brow with a smirk, and you let out a half-hearted chuckle.
She could read you like a book.
"Yeah, no, I wouldn't."
She smiled as she poured herself her own drink, but when she looked back up, she noticed your expression had fell.
"All right, what's on your mind," she sighed, almost as an order as she pulled up a chair.
You scoffed.
"I don't know what you're talkin' about."
"It may have been a while since I've talked to a woman my age, but I can still tell when something's up," she smirked, taking a sip from her glass.
"And judging by the way you look at that cowboy, I'd say it's boy troubles."
You nearly choked on your drink, and she let out a quiet chuckle.
"How did you-?" "My nose is never wrong," she answered, tapping her nose.
"I assure you, this is a safe space and my lips are sealed."
You don't know what it was about this woman, be it the closeness in age or her comforting presence, but something about her just made you wanna spill your guts.
You sighed, taking a deep breath before deciding to start from the beginning.
"We met six years ago on the road. That's also where we met the other two, and the girl you met a couple days ago. After a couple snags, we all started to travel together, and we kissed a couple months into knowing each other."
"Cute," Nevada nodded in approval.
"But after that, we never really talked about what we were. We still did all the things that couples do, just...without the labels."
"All the things that couples do?" She cocked a brow, intrigued.
"All the things that couples do," you assured, with a smile, "But lately the group's been distant, and everyone's talkin' about goin' off on their own. I don't know if he's going off by himself, or if I'm going off with him, 'cause we never established what we are to each other."
"I see," she nodded, starting to understand, "Have you tried asking him about it?"
"That's the thing. I don't know if I'm girlfriend status, or dating status, or wife status, or whatever status. I don't know if I have the right to ask, or if it's just a given. And I don't want him to feel like I'm tyin' him down or anything-." "But you also want him to bring you because you've grown attached," she finished for you.
