You and Dan Heng spent the next few days trying to trigger your memory, but to no avail. You couldn't remember anything of what had happened before you awoke on the Express, nor anything from your childhood. It was like something was missing, something important... yet, you could never put your finger on it.
During that time, however, you got to know the reserved train guard a lot better.
It had turned out that Dan Heng had been on the Astral Express for quite some time, and he was quite the smart cookie when it came to space or these things they called 'Stellarons'. Either way, you found it quite charming.
You had been sat with Dan Heng in the Archives for most of the day, still trying to recover your memories, and you were starting to get tired. Your eyelids became heavy and you started to daydream, Dan Heng's voice starting to become muffled in your ears as your conscience started to slip from you.
"...Y/N?"
"Y/N."
Dan Heng walked over to you and gave your shoulder a small shake, just enough to awake you from your little doze.
"You're tired." He stated the obvious, his voice stern, scanning you up and down with those usual cold eyes of his.
"We can resume this tomorrow - for now, you should get some rest."
Dan Heng turned and placed the book he was showing you back on one of the shelves in the Archives, and you gave him a small nod, yawning and standing up.
"Yeah, good idea..." You mumbled quietly, rubbing your eyes and stumbling a little as you got back on your feet.
Dan Heng quickly grabbed your arm to stop you from falling - his hand was suprisingly warm, a big contrast to his cold demeanour. He raised an eyebrow at you, a small hint of concern lingering in his eyes.
"Are you alright?" He asked, carefully letting go of your arm once more.
"Yeah, sorry. Just... tired." You sighed, shaking your head and crossing your arms. You didn't want to admit it, but you felt a little... lost, at the minute. Your attempts to recover your memories were currently coming out as unsuccessful, and you just felt like something was missing. Although, there was a strange feeling in your heart that told you it was better off left unknown...
"Well, the best thing you can do is rest." Dan Heng replied, giving you a small nod. "Would you like me to walk you to your room, or can you remember the way?"
You thought for a moment. You knew the way to your room by now, but you liked it when Dan Heng accompanied you, since it was what you were used to. So, you glanced up at him with a small smile, and decided to be honest.
"Can you walk me over? I prefer it when you do." You asked, watching as a curious look appeared in the guard's eyes.
"Very well." He nodded, his expression unchanging as usual. He walked over to the door out of the Archives, and you followed close behind, starting to walk down the hall towards your room.
Once you reached the door, you gave Dan Heng a small, appreciative nod, before you said your goodbyes and stepped into your room, closing the door behind you.
You rummaged around your drawers, finding some pyjamas that March had lent you, and slipped them on before letting yourself slump onto the bed.
You let out a loud, tired sigh, burying your face into the pillow. The past few days had been long ones, and you were starting to feel tired of it. You knew that March knew nothing of her past either, and you wondered that maybe, just maybe, you'd be able to do the same as her - stay with the Express, and go to different planets, exploring and destroying Stellarons.
Because, for some weird reason, you felt like you were meant to be here.
