Cheong-san looks around before he points at more planks above us.
"If one of us gets to the roof they can scream and the zombies will follow. It'll empty out and the rest can run." I nod my head, he's right. Then I walk over to the window to see if I can even get on top of one of these things, let alone climb it. On-jo grows upset and speaks out.
"No," Cheong-san tries to keep talking but she doesn't let up. "I said no. No more sacrifices. We said we'd survive together." Those who feel the same let her know. Mi-jin tries to think of ideas but Ha-ri shoots her down with reasonable questions. As they bicker I hear a faint noise. What is that? I turn in every direction until I meet Nam-ra's eyes, she points to her left.
"They're saying to take cover."
"Cover?" I ask with a confused expression. She nods.
"Who is?" Everyone begins to question. I sigh with a small laugh and push my hair back.
"They're gonna bomb the area." The noise quiets down after my statement. Nam-ra begins reciting what they're saying and panic begins to set. "Where the heck are we supposed to go, we don't have anywhere safe to go." My voice raised slightly as I finished my sentence. I knew why they were planning to bomb but it made me sick just thinking about it. Ms.Park began to try and calm us down but we had no plan and no where to go. The chatter continued until I heard something and outstretched my arms in an attempt to shush them.
"CHEONG-SAN!!" Mother fucker. Everyone looked at each other in surprise. We didn't have to guess who it was. Dae-su pressed himself against the wall and sighed.
"That asshole never dies, does he?" I shrugged my shoulders.
"I suppose not." Silence followed what I said until we heard another small noise. Everyone was staring in the direction of the noise when evil reared it's ugly face through the window besides us. Gwi-nam. I gripped the bat in my grasp as he stared at the group, his face still bloody. He turned to me.
"Y/N" Glaring back at him I moved to stand besides Su-hyeok.
"Gwi-nam, haven't seen you since we went over the edge of the school." The smirk on his face dropped and he gave me a dead eyed glare.
"You little bitch, you'll get what's coming." Cheong-san snatched the bat from my hand and took a strong swing at Gwi-nam. Giw-nam managed to avoid the swing in time and dragged Cheong-san against the window roughly.
"Stay back," Su-hyeok tells everyone else with his arm extended towards them before turning back to face Gwi-nam. Hastily, Su-hyeok and I jump forwards to help Cheong-san up but Gwi-nam crawls through the window and places one foot on his chest. Su-hyeok takes a swing but misses, luckily I was already pushing my body aggressively towards him. We tumbled against poles and I almost fell over but Cheong-san had gotten to his feet and caught me before I could. Together the boys and I went towards Gwi-nam but he put a stop to all our advances.
Once again he managed to stop us, knocking both Su-hyeok and I over backwards he stood over Cheong-san, Su-hyeok was hurt having almost fallen over the edge. Gwi-nam eyed all of us before smiling and knelt down. He was going to bite Cheong-san's arm but I couldn't let that happen, he can't die. Without further thought I got off my back as fast as I could and rolled forwards, using all of the momentum I had, I pushed Gwi-nam backwards. He lost his balance and fell over onto the pile of sharp poles we'd mentioned earlier. I was able to tach myself on a steady pole and Cheong-san also managed to grab by shirt. We stood and looked down at Gwi-nam who had been impaled, he looked dead but that wouldn't keep him down for long, we had to move. Cheong-san recomposed himself immediately and sent me a strict nod as a thank you. Ms.Parker who had been holding the group of students back came forwards to check on us as well. We agreed that we were okay. Ha-ri and Mi-jin gave us a small bump to the shoulder with a smile. We smiled back in response and I looked to On-jo who I know was worried. Her eyes, as I expected, were already looking at me.
"We need to get out of here." Everyone nodded silently but quickly. Clearly they were feeling slightly more fearful knowing Gwi-nam was after us. On-jo walked over to me, without breaking eye contact and took my hand in hers. "We just need to get past those zombies. There's too many to outrun," Cheong-san raised his hand.
"We can still use my earlier plan, it's not ideal but we need to get out of here." We didn't need to like the plan we needed to execute it perfectly. Reluctantly we all agreed and let Cheong-san be bait like he'd offered but only because he promised to come back. With a hand on his shoulder I pulled him aside.
"Cheong-san, a gentleman doesn't go back on his word. Come back safely." He smiled at me and pulled me in for a hug. We weren't the kind of friends who hugged but it seemed like the right time.
"I'll be back safely Y/N," he whispered. I watched as my best friend crawled through the window and began to run into the building screaming. All the zombies snapped their attention to him and followed in a mob. Su-hyeok, Dae-su and I helped everyone through the window and started sprinting. Cheong-sans screams echoed as he ran up flights of stairs and we made our way out of the building. The sprint through the woods was difficult as we tried not to slip and fall or roll down the small hills we were on. With On-jo's hand still held tightly in mine we felt the earth begin to shake we all looked at our surroundings and Ms.Park ushered us all to our knees.
" EVERYONE, HANDS OVER YOUR HEADS!!" We did as told and felt as small pieces of concrete hit our bodies. I moved myself above On-jo and let my body rest over hers for more protection. The explosions were painfully loud. I felt like my ears were going to bleed with each one. I could feel every movement of the earth as it vibrated, so squeezed my eyes shut but I couldn't hold them for long. When I took a peek I saw Nam-ra doing the same in Su-hyeoks arms. The explosions went on for a while longer. We waited until there was nothing but smoke left to get to our feet. I felt On-jo's body move under mine and I looked down to her. Her face having grown bright red, quickly I scrambled to my feet and offered her a hand. She took it with her face still red, I didn't let go of her hand as we all stood in a circle. Ms.Park spoke first.
"Let's sleep for the night and in the morning we'll come up with a plan."
"I hope Cheong-san found a safe place." I said aloud to no one in specific, On-jo gave my hand a squeeze and began running her other hand up and down my arm in comfort. "We should go check." Ms.Park shook her head at me and placed both of her hands on my shoulders.
"Right now Y/N we need to rest," she nodded at Dae-su. "He has a nasty cut on his leg I don't think he can walk back right now. Let's wait till morning to make any decisions." I nodded reluctantly but once I took in the state of everyone else I began to understand it was the best thing for the group. I wanted to go check on him, I needed to make sure he was okay. But I had to wait.
The Last Chapter is coming up, I want to give a heads up that it might be the shortest chapter on here but I will try to expand it as much as I can :) I apologize if this chapter seems rushed I wanted to give you guys a chapter. I've been busy with school lately but I'll try to get the last chapter out quicker.
