Chapter 7

"THE FOLLOWING AREA IS A LABYRINTH!" Gaining Pitou's interest "IT STRETCHES FOR A 78 KM RADIOUS, IT'S FULL OF TRAPS AND OTHER TYPES OF DANGERS! ALL OF YOU HAVE A MAP AT YOUR DISPOSAL, HOWEVER! YOU CAN USE IT A LIMITED NUMBER OF TIMES! ONE USE IS 20 SECONDS AND IT WILL SHOW YOUR LOCATIONS AND THE CLOSEST 5 CANDIDATES.....YOU HAVE...." he closed his eyes and smirked "5 uses at your disposal" he said with a normal tone which gave Pitou's ears some peace

A lot of the candidates started to talk and complain, some even left, they weren't up for the challenge, the man simply smiled to himself knowing he had at least 150 people completely terrorized, Pitou turned and she saw that some people weren't all that impressed: off course Shizuku, Feitan and Nobunaga, but also another couple dozen of attendants weren't all that scared, including Tompa which made Pitou question why someone who failed almost forthy times would even bother

"ONE MORE THING:" and Pitou turned to him again "YOU ALL HAVE 20 HOURS! YOU CAN TRY AND FOLLOW ME TROUGH THE LABYRINTH BUT I DON'T KNOW IF I AM WILLING TO WAIT FOR ANY OF YOU!" he said still laughing
Then with one quick motion he jumped to the door and said "THE FIRST PHASE, HAS BEGUN!"

The examiner dashed at full speed in the labyrinth leaving everyone in the dust
Feitan and Shizuku started talking about how easy it would be too just kill the guy if he gives troubles and Pitou was very pissed about it. she didn't understand it. they reminded her so much of other ants and her old self, yet they weren't born programmed to kill and torture, they choose to be like that and it made Pitou feel sick. she was going trough so much trouble to cope with her old mistakes while these guys just decided to keep making more and more

Nobunaga got close to her and spoke "aren't you going to follow him? We could easily cath up"

Pitou didn't look at him, she just sighed "I will take it easy, I can handle myself in just twenty hours...what about you three?"

Nobunaga turned and started walking in the corridor intercepting the other two who had also began walking "we're here to kill a man we know...however, might as well have some fun before doing so, let's see what the exam has to offer"
Soon after the room was almost empty and Pitou simply waited a bit while thinking, mostly she was thinking about Knuckle's challenge. she saw what the exam phases are like so she could start to make some guesses about what she was going to face next. she was now walking in the long corridor that was the beginning of the maze

She hated to admit it but she agreed with Nobunaga. for them, much stronger than normal humans, it was too easy. might as well try and have fun. however Pitou said to herself that she would have never have fun through killing again. it wasn't just a promise to her King, it was a promise to herself and those around her, she knew now that killing brings consequences

Then she was stopped by a group of people

"Hey" the boy spoke, he was roughly seventeen and a bit taller than Pitou, hazel eyes and brown hairs "do you want to join our group?"

Neferpitou was a fair bit surprised, she didn't think people would actually decide to help each other in the exam "well....I could but I don't think we can"

"Just think about it, if we all work together we can use the digital map as many times as we need it, what about teaming up for this phase?" He was very cheerful compared the people behind him who looked nervous. he had good intentions. the others were just using him to get through the first phase. she sighed

"Well....just for a bit, let's see where this goes" she got closer and offered a hand shake "Elizabeth Bire, number 279"

"Markus Civorum, number 146" he smiled "come on let's go!" He said full of energy
