"I hope I'm able to be with this group again in the future" On-jo and I smiled at her. I gave On-jo's hand a little squeeze. The group walked a little further until Wu-jin called out to us.
"Is it okay if we take a breather, Dae-su is heavy." Ms.Park and Su-hyeok agreed. The group sat on the grass while Mi-jin and Ha-ri decided to walk further to see if they could see any signs of the city.
"How is everyone doing? Is everyone still okay?" Ms.Park addressed us with a slight hitch in her words. We gave a half hearted yes and heard rustling in the distance. Nam-ra and I snapped our heads in the opposite direction and soon Ha-ri and Mi-jin came into view. Both girls were running.
"We're not far from the city it's about a few minutes that way" she said pointing in the direction they'd come from.
"Did you see anyone? Any zombies?" Su-hyeok asks, helping Dae-sue to his feet once more. Ha-ri shook her head and crossed her arms.
"It seemed quiet."
"You really shouldn't have said that." Ha-ri turns to me with a curious look. "It's always a jinx."
We moved in silence which partly helped with our secrecy, we didn't know if there were Zombies in Yang-dong or if they'd all been killed off. As we got closer it got foggy. Or maybe it's smoke, probably smoke. The group of us huddled together as we walked, Ms.Park took the lead besides Su-hyeok and I.
"This place is abandoned." I said as we walked through empty streets. There didn't seem to be much damage from any bombs. Ha-ri stepped up closer to me with a scowl on her face.
"I think we're safe, it seems clean here. No blood or broken wind-" her voice was dulled out by something else. I turned to look behind us then to the left of us.
"I hear something."
"What do you hear?" I shook my head to indicate I don't know what Im hearing. Luckily I'm not the only one who picked up on the noise.
"Zombies," Nam-ra whispered.
"They're getting louder, we need to run now." Without hesitation we started sprinting as fast as we could. Wu-jin and Su-hyeok started moving dae-su faster than he could move on his own and they were struggling to keep up the pace. The girls ran further ahead and I kept myself behind the guys just in case. I kept running while sparing glances behind us but didn't notice that the boys had toppled over. I tripped over them and fell too. Ms.Park noticed and stopped the girls form running as we hurriedly picked up Dae-su.
"Y/N go we can get him up," Wu-jin breathed out. I ignored him of course and started walking forwards once they were standing. A growl came from the opposite direction. Su-hyeok let Dae-su go and grabbed a shovel from a store nearby.
"Take Dae-su and go." There was a short silence and I glanced at On-jo. We locked eyes and I gave her a small smile. We're gonna have to fight our way out once again. The boys and I grabbed a shovel as well.
"Can't let you have all the glory now can I."
"You never do Y/n, you never do." The girls and Ms.Park armed up as well as we waited in place for the zombies to arrive. The footsteps grew louder and louder. I'll never get used to the growls. My breath got quicker and I took On-jo's hand.
"Well fuck, I feel like this might be the end," Mi-jin said.
"Let's just try to get through this. Hyo-ryung, get behind me." Hyo-ryung ran behind Ms.Park with a shovel in her hand as well. Wu-jin turns to Ha-ri.
"Get behind me." She laughs and steps in front of him.
"You get behind me." We stared ahead of us, straight at the smoke and waited. On-jo squeezed my hand and I pulled her a little closer, our shoulders touching. We didn't have to wait any longer. A zombie made it's way towards us, then another, and another. Soon we had a group of them running towards us. Su-hyeok ran at the first one and swung his shovel. Before we knew it we were all swinging away and trying to keep them from dropping us to the ground. A zombie in a red shirt ran in my direction and I dug the pointer side of my shovel into her neck.
"I need help," Before I could run towards Wu-jin who'd called out On-jo made her way to him and started swinging but the zombie didn't give up. I joined her and eventually we got it off. The more of them that got back up caused my anger to grow. I started swinging harder at everything. My shovel went clean through two zombies one after another. My urge to keep swinging grew and I was in my own little world killing zombies. My view became narrowed and redness started to close in. I was still swinging at the zombies besides me but I didn't notice anyone else around me. That was until I heard On-jo scream for me. Breathing had become difficult but I turned to see her using a small railing as a shield from a zombie. I dropped my shovel and grabbed the thing by the neck and twisted it.
"Y/n?" My hearing was muffled and I ignored her before stumbling over to another zombie that was trying to get to Ms.Park and Hyo-ryung. I repeated the process with this zombie and moved on. I didn't stop until I pulled a zombie off of Wu-jin and noticed the blood coming from his neck. I backed away as everyone surrounded him, Ha-ri helped his head alongside Dae-su. I couldn't hear what they were saying, but I felt my hearing make it's way back. My vision was cleared and everything seemed normal again. "Y/n?" I turned.
"On-jo." She turned to look at Wu-jin again then at me. She was going to speak again but we heard a growl. It was Wu-jin, he'd turned.
I haven't edited but here you go guys. I've split the ending into two chapters. This is the first but all will be uploaded tonight.
