"Hey." Lo'ak said, giving her a small smile while the girl lowered her head and just giggled shyly. Just then you hear more shouting and a group of people riding in on a Skimwing. You duck as they get close to your head and you wanted to yell at them but that would just get you in trouble with your family. Looking over at the tall boy, Ao'nung, again you hear your father and what now seems to be the chief doing the 'I See You' motion which quickly and respectfully gets returned.

Locking eyes with Ao'nung was dangerous, but not the kind of dangerous that was fun and reckless, the kind of dangerous that you knew you both would get hurt. "Jakesully" you hear the chief say while still looking at the boy. You notice he's looking at your hands and he laughs and looks away from you completely, as if the five fingers you have, serving as a constant reminder of your father, is such a bad thing. Your brothers matched you at the same time, raising an eyebrow and silently telling you to do the 'I See You' motion, which you happily do.

A moment later you see a gorgeous Na'vi coming out of the crowd, more than likely the chief's wife. "I See You, Ronal." You heard your father say while motioning and you, your brothers, Kiri, and Tuk all did the motion. "I See You, Ronal." You heard your mother's soft voice as she did the motion again, but there was no reaction from Ronal.

"Why do you come to us, Jakesully?" the chief asked, putting out an inviting hand. "We seek uturu." Your father said looking back and motioning to the family. "Uturu..?" Ronal said, she seemed quite upset at even the mention of it. "Yes, sanctuary for my family." Jake responded, sounding hopeful.

Ronal moved closer to the family, observing us, taking us in as if we were freaks. "We are Reef People. You are Forest people. Your skills will mean nothing here." The chief said. "Well... we will learn your ways...Am I right?" Your father reasoned, looking back at you with pleading eyes. "Yes..." Your mother said as Ronal came and touched her tail in her hands.

"Their arms are thin." Ronal lifted up Tuk's arm. "Mom..." Tuk scrambled away from the unknown woman into Neytiri's arms. "Their tails..." she picked up Kiri's tail, "Are weak.". You interjected and pulled Kiri's tail away from Ronal and stepped in front of her. "You will be slow in the water." Ronal looked at the family as a whole. She grabbed your hands and lifted them up for everyone to see. "These children..." She started, "are not even true Na'vi." She made eye contact with her husband. "Dad..." Both you and Kiri said, simultaneously. You heard everyone gasp and you looked for Ao'nung and his sister. You finally found him and the girl looked sympathetic while the boy looked unimpressed and smug. "Yes we are," Kiri growled and held your shaking hands. "They have demon blood!" She yelled out as she lifted Lo'ak's hand and everyone jumped back and gasped again. Lo'ak looked away, shamed and so did you. You hated people like this. "Look, LOOK!" Jake put his hands up, showing his hand. "Look, I was born of the Sky People, and now I am Na'vi. All right? You can adapt. We will adapt. Okay?". He looked around, pleading with the audience.

"My husband was Toruk Makto." Your mother said smugly while Jake cringed at that name. "He led the clans to victory against the Sky People." "This you call victory? Hiding among strangers? It seems Eywa has turned her back on you, Chosen one." Ronal got in your parents face and you wanted nothing more than to hit her but for now, you stood there. Neytiri hissed at her and Ronal returned the favor. "I apologize for my mate. She's..." "Do not apologize for me!" Neytiri hissed. "Flown a long way, and she's exhausted." "Jake." Your mother was getting really upset now. Both women retreated with a sigh while Jake looked at you.

"Toruk Makto is a great war leader. All Na'vi people know his story. But we, Metkayina... are not at war." Jake picked up Tuk and held her in his arms. "We cannot let you bring your war here." the chief said. "I'm done with war... okay? I just... Wanna keep my family safe." "Uturu has been asked." Your mother said, through clenched teeth. You heard the mutters of your family and watched as the chief contemplated something.

"You will need some reason to keep enough peace and become one with the people. It is decided if you are willing to give your eldest daughter to Ao'nung as a mate, you can stay." Ronal said, calling her son up to the front. "What? How is that even fair?!" Your dad didn't say anything. "C'mon dad you're not really thinking about it... are you?" Lo'ak said, seeing how uncomfortable you were. "Mom I really don't think..." Ao'nung tried to interject but was quickly shut down by his father. "We will do it." Your father finally spoke up. "What?! What's wrong with you Jake?!" you growled under your breath.

"Toruk Makto and his family will stay with us. Treat them as our brothers and sisters. Now, they do not know the sea; so, they will be like babies... taking their first breath. Teach them our ways, so they do not suffer the shame of being useless." The chief said to the villagers all around. "Okay, now what do we say?" Jake looked around at the family. "Thank you." The whole family said except you. You started crying silently while looking at the sand. "My son, Ao'nung, and my daughter, Tsireya, will show your children what to do." "Father why do I have to-" Ao'nung started but was cut off. "It is decided."

"Come!" Tsireya broke through the crowd to your family with a smile. "I will show you our village!"
