Y/n L/ns Containment Log: Entry 57
"Oh, wow..." Ashley murmured in amazement as you got to work, swiftly scribbling a set of lines on a large sheet of paper. This was a bar, the basis for sheet music.
"Frankie, come look at this..." Ashley whispered as you paused, thinking to yourself before getting to work on it. Ashley had slipped you a piece of paper and the only writing utensil you could apparently be trusted with: a crayon. It was with those two tools that you had been asked to finally sit down and write the notes for the single most popular piece of music you knew: the Calamari Inkantation.
"That's..." Frank paused, watching you go. After a second, he set his PDA aside to stand up and step forward, watching you write from just beyond the glass.
"That's sheet music." He murmured, amazed. In response, you paused just after the first few notes had been written in some gaudy shade of green.
"You know?" You asked. Ashley slowly nodded in response, looking at the bar you had written.
"Humans. We, well... we use that exact same writing system for music." Ashley told you, she and her husband watching in stunned amazement as you continued to write. A rest here, a few eighth notes there... don't forget the clefs at the beginning...
"This song. Has physical reaction with bodies." You spoke up, offering the fun fact with a hum.
"Yeah, when you enjoy a song, right?" Ashley asked, recalling the conversation from a few days back. It was to reactions of raised brows and quizzical looks that you shook your head, denying the immediate assumption.
"Strength. We grow stronger from this." You stated. Ashleys eyes widened at the statement as Frank reached for his PDA, no doubt ready to type out another few paragraphs for his next report about you.
"You... what?" Ashley tilted her head, disbelief hanging in her words. It seems this was not a common occurrence in humans.
"Ropes that would normally bind become easy to break." You reiterated.
"Massive feats of strength now regular occurrence. Stronger, faster..." You paused, looking aside. As you pondered your next few words, your gaze fell to the floor.
"Impossible to match." You sighed, reluctantly adding a note. Thinking about that was bringing a melancholy feeling to your mind. It really wouldn't happen...
"Well, now..." Ashley tried to start a sentence, probably to speak some words of encouragement, before stopping herself. It probably wasn't worth comforting someone who'd likely never be able to challenge that idea ever again.
"I..." She paused, trying to think of something, anything to say to you. Before she could, however, the sound of a throat being cleared beside her instead brought your gaze back up to her husband, holding his PDA.
"Your music. Can you tell us where you learned that particular script?" Frank spoke up, asking the question that no doubt lingered in his mind since you first started writing out the song.
"Oh. Learned in schools." You answered, thankful for the sudden change in subject. You seriously did not need to think about how you couldn't match the very song that might as well have been carved into your DNA.
"In... schools." Frank repeated, typing something out with a series of light taps on his screen.
"So, Ink Humans have an education system. What kind of things did you learn, aside from music? Mathematics? Science?" He continued, grilling you for information.
