Royalty au. Takes place around the 1700s.

Muzan stood at the edge of his balcony with his head resting against his palm, he was the only child to the emperor and empress of one of Japan's biggest areas. Though Muzan knew that when he turned 16, his parents would get an arranged marriage with a nice noble girl. He was turning 16 tomorrow, and he knew this wasn't what he wanted. Living in royalty is nice and all but... he just wants to live normally, as in normally he means he wants to be a peasant. It doesn't seem like the nicest thing but he has seen families getting together and looking out for one another, men finding a woman they actually love, being free. But Muzan is on a strict schedule by his father so he can be the perfect ruler. It's not fun... Muzan sighed and lowered his hand to rest against the balcony, like his father said, you get what life gives you, it's just destiny... Muzan was about to go back inside when he heard a whisper, his heart skipped a beat and he went back to the balcony and leaned over it. He knew that whisper anywhere, and it's been a month since he last heard it. Muzan frowned when he didn't see anything below the balcony, was he just imagining it then? Muzan's worries were soon erased when he heard a thump on his balcony and saw his samurai friend.
"Yoriichi!"
"Hey, sorry it took so long, I thought I'd be back sooner."
Yoriichi rubbed the back of his head and then got surprised by getting a very tight hug from Muzan, surprised at first Yoriichi smiled and rubbed Muzan's back. He loved how vulnerable the man got around him, he was always so serious when doing his royal duties but when he saw Yoriichi all of that just melted away, it's like Yoriichi was the key to a secret lock inside of him. Muzan pulled back from the hug and slightly bowed his head, Yoriichi did the same but a little lower because of Muzan's title.
"Where have you bin?! I was worried about you, you know?" Muzan frowned and crossed his arms, he was seriously scared for Yoriichi when he was gone for longer than a week like he said.
"The battle was intense, we still won but a lot of men were injured, I had to stay back and help them."
Muzan frowned but the grabbed Yoriichi's hands, "You're a good man, Yoriichi."
"Thank you, now enough about me. What about you?"
Muzan opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out, should he tell Yoriichi about the arranged marriage? That was the only really interesting thing happening with Muzan right now, unless Yoriichi wanted to listen about the same old boring stuff like how he trained with his father and learned about boring things to run an army. Muzan wasn't really into fighting, it was too much blood, and Muzan thought it was pretty pointless. If nobody fought then they wouldn't have to live in these terrible conditions, or maybe they would? Politics hurt Muzan's head. Yoriichi noticed something was wrong with Muzan and he put a comforting hand on the shinno's shoulder.
"Something bothering you?"
"I... yes... there is."
"You don't have to tell me, I don't mind."
"No... I probably should."
"Well then?"
"I'm getting married tomorrow."
"Oh! That's great news, who is the lucky girl?"
"I... don't know, I haven't met her yet."
