Unfortunately, after a few hours, my game would commence. I already knew all of the rules and such, but the others didn't.
I sat down in the dining hall alongside Orpheus, Nora, Genevieve, and the injured Rosalie. We all ate our meals in silence as Orpheus and I both knew what was going to happen as we had prior experience for these games.
"I can't wait to get out of here," Nora stated suddenly, breaking the awkward silence between all of us.
"Right," Genevieve agreed, taking a bite of her food, "I'm done with some of these assholes here."
Orpheus looked up from his plate momentarily to speak. "Miss Fletcher, women shouldn't curse," he spoke, "manners."
"Fuck off," Genevieve rolled her eyes.
Rosalie finished her food and stared down at the table blankly, similarly to how she did in her room prior. Nora shook her roughly and snapped her out of her trance, and the three of them began to strike up a conversation as they always would at the table.
Eventually, everybody had finished their meals and it was time to commence the final game for this group of people. We had already lost two, and I didn't want to lose anymore. No matter how irritating these residents may be, no one truly deserved to die.
The butler made us stand up from our seats and we were escorted out of The Manor and towards an area with two exit gates, some cipher machines, and pallets. I was familiar with this concept, however the butler briefly explained the game just in case the others may not have known. As he was explaining the rules and such, I scanned the map. The map looked like a school, and we would be playing this "game" through the corridors.
After the butler had finally concluded explaining the rules of this game, the action commenced. The exit gate opened wider than before and all five of us were released onto the the playing field, ready to compete against each other.
As I ran towards my first cipher machine, I thought to myself momentarily. Who's the hunter, and what would be their motive for hurting all of us?
I clicked and slammed the cipher machine until it was almost completed. The progress was at about 78%, and nobody had gotten hit yet.
Or so I thought.
As I was finishing up my cipher, I heard a blood curdling scream come from the distance to the right of me; it sounded like Miss Roche, similar to how she screamed when Lloyd had smashed that bottle over her head so suddenly.
I tapped and messed around with my cipher quicker as the screams sounded like they were getting closer. Soon enough, my cipher popped; 4 ciphers remaining.
I ran around the school corridors in order to try and find more ciphers. I found various blood stains on the walls and a concerning amount of blood trails. I decided to follow one of those blood trails out of curiosity, and after seeing what I saw, I deeply regretted it.
I stood still in front of her corpse; Valentina's body was all bloody and was left in a random and strange hallway of the school. I assumed that her cause of death was an unintended bleeding out from the hunter. Her hair was even messier than it had always been at The Manor, and her makeup was completely ruined but not in the way she usually had it, black mascara stains dripped down her cheeks, as if she was mourning or crying about something while in her final moments.
It pained me with what I did, but truly there was nothing I could do. I placed my jacket over her body and ran off in the opposite direction, searching for cipher machines once more. Eventually two more ciphers had popped, which I could only assume were Nora's and Genevieve's since I presumed that Rosalie was containing the hunter; two ciphers remaining.
Rosalie was healed by Genevieve, as I could see them in the distance down a hallway. However, I was in danger. My heart was beating very quickly and noticeably and I ran in the other direction, which I soon found out was the wrong direction. I had accidentally ran into the hunter.
The look in the hunters eyes wasn't bloodthirsty or even dangerous, they seemed to have been drugged with something, as there was no true and clear intention as to why this hunter would be going after people for no reason of it wasn't ready to kill its victims straight away, like how I saw with Valentina's body. I ran down various hallways and even some classrooms, nervously throwing some pallets down and jumping through windows in order to avoid the hunters hits.
Another cipher had popped just then; 1 cipher remaining. All I had to do was to avoid the hunters sudden attacks for a few more minutes in order to escape with at least a tie or maybe even a win. My breathing began to shake and become unsteady. The hunter swiped at me and eventually it pierced my body. I groaned in pain, holding the bleeding wound on my torso as I ran and tried desperately to escape from the hunter. It was harder to vault over pallets or windows now, but I still tried my hardest.
The hunter scratched at me once more, finally knocking me down off of my feet. I desperately crawled away from it, and the final cipher had popped. I used my remaining energy and the adrenaline that was rushing through my veins now in order to escape the pursuit of the hunter. I ran to one of the two exit gates, where I was hoping that my teammates would be, decoding the gate and by the time I would get there the gate would be open and we would all escape.
I finally made it to the gate and I didn't see anybody in sight. I sighed hopelessly, but then booked it over to the other gate in order to secure my life and the incoming win. I used my left over energy to weave my way through obstacles and such, and eventually ran over to the entrance of the gate where Genevieve, Nora, and Rosalie were alls tending there, triumphantly. My foot stepped into the entrance of the gate when I got knocked down, but trying their hardest, the three dragged me out of the gate as they all exited and escaped back to The Manor.
I stood up shakily as they all briefly and somewhat treated my wounds. I was being propped up by Genevieve and Nora as we walked back to The Manor.
After walking for a bit, we had finally reached the entrance to The Manor. Rosalie knocked on the door and we were let in by the butler. I noticed that Orpheus was not to be seen with us.
As soon as Genevieve had spotted Norton, she ran into his arms as they hugged and he twirled her around. Nora and Rosalie smiled.
All of our clothing was in a such bad condition. My jacket was gone and my blouse was somewhat ripped, along with Rosalie. Nora and Genevieve's clothing were all filthy now due to how dusty and dirty that school had been.
I ignored my clothing for now and focused on the main fact; we had made it out alive successfully, and we would all get the prize. It was all over, all seven of us had survived The Manor games.
Two people had been confirmed to be dead and one other disappeared mysteriously in order for all of us to be at this point. I smiled and hugged the others happily. Moments later, the butler had entered the lobby of The Manor, where we were all located together and celebrating.
He entered in with a strange woman. She looked around Miss Roches age for example, maybe even younger. She had mascara running down her face as if she had been crying moments earlier. Her short black hair was sort of messy but went well with her beautiful dress.
"Congratulations current residents of The Manor," the butler clapped, "you have all reached phase two of The Manor games."
Everybody looked shocked. What?
"Due to how many alive residents there are, we will be commencing a third game, with two hunters and eight survivors, along with seven ciphers in need of decoding," the butler explained, "Mr Hughes and Mrs Parker will be entering the game with all of you, along with another resident."
The woman waved to us shyly. "Hello everyone, my name is Lya Parker," she greeted sheepishly, "nice to meet you all."
Everybody continued to looked flabbergasted; a third game? After all we had been through? Were Valentina and Lloyds deaths for nothing?
I sighed and decided that while we waited for the final resident for arrive, I would question Lya Parker.. right after I got changed into a fresh pair of clothes.
After a few minutes of pure shock, everyone left the lobby to go do some other activities. I headed upstairs for my room and eventually made it. I plopped down onto my bed once more, analyzing how that game went and what would happen in the future.
I stared up at my ceiling. Seriously, a third game with two hunters? I guess that would be called...
A duo hunters match.
