You walked from the bedroom to the kitchen, a pattern you repeated every morning, and opened the fridge; Cake, Nothing else just like always.
You grabbed a piece of cake and threw yourself in the couch. Well, half of you was on the couch. You started eating cake and, just as always, L walked past you.
"Good morning"
"Morning" He said back, he had clearly just woken up. Which was rare, because he never really slept at all.
He repeated your actions, walking to the fridge grabbing some cake and sitting in the chair next to the couch, because you were taking up the whole couch.
You both ate your cake in silence.
After a few minutes of awkward silence L broke the silence by asking you "R, would you tell me your name?"
He did this every morning he tried to guess the reason once a day and then spend the rest of the day analysing your reaction, or something. You weren't sure.
You gave the same answer as always.
"Why do you want to know?"
"Because calling each other by aliases while living in the same house is uncomfortable."
He guessed.
"I'm impressed, you put logic aside."
"I just came to the conclusion that you would want me to say something out of character. This seemed like an example of such a sentence."
"Close, but not quite it."
He returned to his room with his thumb on his lip.
I doubt he'll be able to get it.
You thought to yourself.
~L's POV~
"'Close but not quite it', huh?"
I said to myself moving to my desk and sitting in my chair.
"'I'm impressed, you put logic...aside....'"
It took a few seconds until I understood what she meant with those words.
I got up and walked towards R.
I opened the door a little too loud, and walked through with a slight smile on my face. Like I had my enemy in a corner and everything was going according to plan.
"R!"
I yelled, she looked up and said a muffled 'Yes' through a bite of the cake she had clearly just gotten.
I cleared my mind took a deep breath.
"I decided to follow your advice and 'put logic aside', but, as someone whose every move is decided by logical thinking, this is easier said than done."
I stopped to look at her reaction, walked towards her until I stood in front of her and bowed down until my eyes were on the same level as her eyes.
"As hard as this might be for me I decided to try and, well, here I go."
She had stopped chewing and just stared at me.
I gulped and breathed out.
"I want to know your name because.....I want to know."
"That's it?"
She asked.
"Yes, I'm done."
I answered, unsure about my answer and kind of embarrassed.
"Well, it's not what I had in mind, but....its a good reason."
I was surprised, the thought of the reason being so simple hadn't even crossed my mind.
"My name is (Full name), and you?"
Damn, I forgot..
"My name is...L Lawliet."
"L Lawliet...."
She said.
"L Lawliet...."
She repeated my name multiple times.
"I like it. Do you like your name, L?"
She asked me.
Her saying my name sounded different somehow, with her knowing it was my real name.
"I have never thought about how I felt about my name...If I would have to choose...I'd say it's an unusual name."
The conversation stopped.
"What do you think about your name?"
"I love it!"
She said full of enthusiasm.
~Your POV~
You were laughing, and soon L started giggling as well.
After a few minutes of giggling you realised his face was still really close to yours.
You started blushing a little and pulled your head back.
L suddenly looked at you with a serious expression.
It was silent until L said something.
"(Y/N)......"
He muttered as he moved his face closer to yours.
"I..."
His face came closer.
"I...might feel more for you than I previously thought."
Huh?
