Demon Slayer Oneshots

HAPPY LATE NEW YEAR! I started this on 2 Jan, but got sidetracked because of laziness and school.

Hashiras and the Uppermoons+Muzan during New Year, modern AU. 

Tengen Uzui

-Using it as an excuse to drink himself silly and stumble home, drunk, when it's only midday.
-Likes watching the fireworks and counting down to the new year.
-He's been looking for an opportunity to blow up the whole school with dynamite in front of the principal on New Year's and get away with it.
-He'll call everyone on his contact list and scream 'HAPPY NEW YEAR!' into the phone before hanging up, to the annoyance of many people. So he gets blocked during New Year's.

Gyomei Himejima

-He thinks sleep is more important, so he probably won't be counting down.
-Says 'Happy New Year' to each of his cats while stroking their fur.
-Very chill about the whole thing.
-Will write a list of things he wants to do for people and his cats
-Stay at home, cook, and eat while watching the special programs on for the new year.
-Responds to Tengen's very annoying phone call with a quiet 'Happy New Year'.

Shinobu Kocho

-Doesn't really care about counting down, I think she'll probably be sleeping.
-Will send a 'Happy New Year' text to her sister and closest friends.
-She blocks Tengen all-year round, so he visits her personally to annoy her.
-Likes chilling on the couch and scrolling through channels on her TV.
-Enjoys the holiday, although she still does a bit of work.

Sanemi Shinazugawa

-Gets very annoyed if people scream 'HAPPY NEW YEAR!' outside his apartment.
-Also gets irritated by the fireworks
-Poor guy just wants to sleep
-So he's usually pretty grumpy during New Year's, and has absolutely no patience.
-Once he forgot to block Tengen, and the next day Tengen was found in the hospital.

Mitsuri Kanroji

-She'll definitely invite all her friends for a new year's party/ buffet.
-Might bake a cake spelling out 'Happy 2024!' with whipped cream. She's really good at it.
-Cookies with all the Hashiras' faces drawn in icing.
-I think she might consider counting down? Or not? 
-Extra cheerful when blocking Tengen

Muichiro Tokito

-Only likes New Year's because he doesn't have any school.
-Probably wouldn't even know it was New Year's in the first place.
-Sleeps in
-Yuichiro wakes him up (extremely begrudgingly)
-Forgets to block Tengen on New Year's and gets his eardrums torn apart.
-A peaceful, quiet New Year's for him.

Iguro Obanai

-Grumbles about the fireworks
-Only looks forward to New Year's because Mitsuri'll invite all the Hashira over and he'll get to taste her cakes.
-Wants to ask Mitsuri out: that's his New Year's resolution.
-Has been his New Year's resolution for three years and he still hasn't done it yet.
-He's in a bad mood when he blocks Tengen for the rest of the year.

Kyojuro Rengoku

-Responds to Tengen's phone call with an equally loud 'HAPPY NEW YEAR!'
-Lots of those New Year stickers to his friends and family.
-Counts down with his brother Senjuro
-Likes the fireworks and cheers, thanking the people for their hard work.
-Watching random programs and laughing his eardrum-shattering laugh.

Giyu Tomioka

-He would feel happy that it's a new year, but doesn't express it as outwardly as Tengen or Kyojuro.
-But he'll crack a smile during Mitsuri's party (just to himself)
-And that's one of the many reasons Shinobu teases him for the rest of the year.
-He likes watching the fireworks from behind a window (so it's not as loud), sipping a cup of hot chocolate.

Now, for the Uppermoons and Muzan!

Muzan

-Still grouchy guy
-Works nonstop, bugs his employees and overworks them.
-People stay away from him during New Year's, because he emits a vibe so dark it looks (and feels) like he's gonna kill someone.
-But he's really just annoyed and puzzled about why people even bother to celebrate. It's just a new year.

Kokushibo

-Also puzzled about why people celebrate, but isn't angry (unlike Muzan)
-Doesn't complain about being overworked since he thinks New Year's shouldn't be a holiday anyway.
-He strives to work even harder (although he's already rich).
-Might watch the fireworks for a while before going to bed.

Doma

-Overly (pretend) excited
-Bothers all the Uppermoons, especially Daki, Akaza and Muzan with his impromptu visit.
-Gets the door shut in his face.
-But that doesn't dampen his enthusiasm
-Each year he waits for Shinobu's 'Happy New Year' text that she only sends to her family and closest friends, but sadly he has never received it.
-Not even once, which disappoints him but he'll say," there's another year anyway!"

Akaza

-He really just wants a quiet New Year's...too bad Doma won't let it happen.
-Likes to spend the day with Koyuki, just cuddling on the sofa and watching the special programs.
-He can't really stay up late so he won't be counting down.
-Has a pet cat at home and will dress it up on New Year's in a scarf and sweater, etc.

Nakime

-Hmmm...
-She might play some tunes on her Biwa that are more towards the cheerful side, but that's all she does to acknowledge that it's a new year.
-Work as usual, I think.
-Probably doesn't understand why people are so excited, just like Muzan and Kokushibo.

Gyokko

-New year pots!
-Might paint as well, but his paintings turn out looking a little weird, so he sticks to ceramics.
-Cheerful, hopeful, excited for the new year
-Might get a little annoying though

Daki and Gyutaro

-Daki likes the fireworks, but Gyutaro dislikes the noise.
-He'll count down with her anyway.
-Gyutaro'll probably continue to work as usual while Daki complains about Muzan's unfair treatment.
