I sprinted out the door, continuously activating Air Force that immediately propelled me to sound breaking speeds. Just like Maddox had told me I ran. I ran. I ran and ran and ran. That was all I could think of. The fear and terror of the godless glowing violet voids M had for eyes burned into my mind. It was all I could think, all I could see. Some natural instinct ingrained into me ordered me to get as far away from there as possible almost like I was some prey being chased by a predator. I stampeded into the snowy forest and continued to run without any thought but putting as much distance between me and that house as possible. Then I tripped
My foot snagging onto a thick tree route, completely destroying the route from the speed of hitting it but also taking my foot in the process right as an Air Force blast erupted from that same foot. It sent my flying across the ground before I landed hard on my shoulder and continued to roll until hitting a tree in an almost comedic fashion. The wood dented and cracked from the force of the impact as I laid there in a daze, my head spinning. For a few moments that's where I stayed as I slowly dragged together my thoughts and attempted to slow down my panicked breathes. I pulled myself up and sat up against the damaged tree trunk.
What's that noise?
I heard a low distant boom, like an explosion or artillery fire. In the distance I could see the lights of the city and some kind of speck sent flying towards it before crashing into what I assumed was the buildings. Before long another speck followed suit, both coming from what looked the mansion of Uncle Leo and Auntie Carla.
Uncle Leo...
Oh...
A numb feeling took over me, like something inside me died. I pulled my knees towards me and tucked my head into them and stayed there for a while. The cold snow of the winter night gently falling onto me, building up small mounds of snow on top of my head and shoulders. I knew it was cold, but I didn't feel it. Couldn't tell if it was my Ethereal blood or something else from making that so. I could hear what sounded like a great battle coming from the distance, but I didn't register it. I didn't register the gun shots or the explosions or even the distant screams that could be heard. I just sat there, curled up into a ball as I let the snow cover me in a cold white blanket.
I began to cry.
It started off as some light sniffles before morphing into a muffled whimpering as held my legs closer, trying to hide from the world, trying to convince myself that maybe this was all a dream knowing, that it wasn't. I sat like that for what felt like hours, it could have been that or possibly a few minutes or less. Gently shivering from the image of my uncle's head being splattered across the floor like a watermelon looping in my head. Blood on the walls, blood on the floor... blood on my face.
"Novarion?"
I suddenly froze, immediately ceasing my crying as I slowly looked up. From the moonlight way up in the sky I could see a girl standing in front of me, looking at me concern and slight confusion. The light illuminated her freckles, long brown hair, and green eyes. She was carrying a small green briefcase with a white cross in the middle.
"Sofia?" I mumbled, wiping my nose with my sleeve. "What are you doing here?"
Sofia bent down to my level and opened the case, taking out what looked a small towel and started to wipe my face with it.
"I could ask you the same," she said, entirely focused on clearing the red liquid off my face and inspecting body. "You aren't injured so this isn't your blood, is it?"
I shook my head as she helped me onto the feet. As she did so it felt like the world seemed like shake, like a massive earthquake or a nearby explosion, a muffled booming sound could be heard coming from the way up in the night air. We looked and saw it. A jagged cracked hole in the sky. A tear in the fabric of the C.F.R. I saw two purple-coloured blurs fly straight into it.
