Too Early to Time

Reality stores all kinds of energy that harmonize and balance out.  Changing the balance of energy creates a tide.  This pulls towards a convergence resisting the change as it  tries to restore a reality to a stable state.  If the previous state can not be restored, then the energy needs to re-balanced into a new stable state.

Various forms of energy are all around us and are in many forms.  For most of us this energy is undetectable. A rock on a mountain looks just like a rock, its energy is undetectable to us.  But it represents a balance of many forces.  It has molecular forces resisting change.  It is subject to forces such as gravity, wind, solar etc.  It is a buffer storing heat or cold.  And it has potential energy. 

In addition to these types of energy associated with the rock.  The rock also has a time energy.  The rock is ancient, millions of years old, it may have remained in the same location for many years.  It may have undergone minimal change over the time, while it has bore witness to countless changes and events around it.   This makes it a point of reference, like an artifact.  Its relationship with events around it may result time graffiti being grafted upon it.

Anything passing through time will accumulate time energy to varying degrees.  Some of this energy will strongly resist change due to its potential to change past and future realities and create new dimensions.  Any change will try to re-balance back to their original paths through convergence.

A time traveler has time energy.  We all have this energy accumulating as a linear footprint of our passage through time.  This energy is strongly bound within us and strongly resists change.  However, it you have been to the future or the past you will have an additional form of time energy.  This is the energy accumulated from passage across different timelines.  

This is a more complex time energy, resulting from you varying your footprint across multiple timelines and realities and in varying directions.  This time energy resists change in the overall multiverse, but less so within a single timeline.  The energy has potential across timelines rather than within them.  Its entering and leaving a timeline makes it more convergent to the rules of the multiverse. 

This time energy resists change within a timeline far less than normal time energy.  Its ability to  be changed makes it a valuable tool to allow change that that may not re-balance through convergence within a single timeline.  It can craft a permanent change resulting in a new, and stable, dimension or alternate universe depending on the scale of the change.

This time energy is like the potential energy of a rock.  If you move the rock to a position where it falls to a lower height.  You convert its potential energy to kinetic energy.  The rock may still be intact after the fall, and look unchanged.  However its potential energy is lost and kinetic energy is released.  The kinetic energy may cause damage or change on wherever the rock impacts.  Kinetic energy can be harnessed and used in other ways such as water falling through pipes in a dam to drive turbines that create electricity. 

Any form of energy is a food source for anything that can sense, find and feed on that energy.   This energy is extracted, converted, and used for other purposes in a parasitic way leaving the source drained of this energy.

Time travelers who have traveled outside of the normal currents of time need to be aware of their time energy.  It is another thing that makes them different. You don't feel the energy and it makes no change to you ongoing life.  But like static electricity being stored on a woolly jumper, it is there, and on you, and may discharge from time to time with the right connection.

A warning to time travelers with this energy, is they can attract witches.  Witches come in may forms based on what energy they are sensitive to and can feed on.  There are sea witches, crystal witches,  etc.  And there are time witches.

If you pass near a time witch and are noticed. They may taste your specific time energy and may seek to feed on it.  I have encountered several time witches over the years.  At lease these are the ones I am aware of as they gave away their presence.

For each time witch I became aware of, they all had the same method of trying to connect with me.  This has helped me form a kind of awareness of how they operate and hopefully I can use this as a better future defense. I may discuss a typical time witch attack in a future chapter, maybe.
