Third Person POV

The knife struck Da-rae’s back, but to her relief, it was the blunt side.

"YOU BITCH!" Gwi-nam’s furious voice echoed through the chaos.

Wu-jin’s POV:

I sat anxiously, tapping my fingers on the floor. "They’re taking way too long just to grab a phone," I muttered to Dae-su.

"Don’t worry. Da-rae is strong. She’s a fighter," Dae-su reassured him.

"I just don’t want to lose her," I admitted, my voice quieter now.

Dae-su smirked. "She’ll survive, brother-in-law. You two will make it through this."

I sighed, his mind spinning with what ifs. What if she gets bitten? What if she never comes back? I regretted not telling her how I really felt.

Please be okay, Da-rae.

Da-rae and Cheong-san sprinted into the library, dodging zombies at every turn.

"Go that way! I’ll go this way!" Cheong-san shouted.

"Got it!" Da-rae called back, weaving through the bookshelves, pushing off zombies that lunged at her.

Behind her, Gwi-nam’s voice boomed through the library. "HEY, PRINCESS! GIVE ME THE PHONE!"

"FUCK OFF!" she yelled back.

She spotted Cheong-san ahead and tossed him the phone. He caught it with ease.

"GO!" he yelled.

"HELL NO! I’M NOT LEAVING YOU BEHIND!"

They bolted out of the library, Da-rae slamming a chair into a zombie that got too close. She fought her way forward,swinging, kicking, doing whatever she had to do to survive.

Then she saw something that stopped her cold.

A familiar figure.

Someone she never thought she’d see again.

"Mom?"

Her mother’s teary eyes met hers. "DA-RAE!! YOU’RE ALIVE! I’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU EVERYWHERE!!"

Da-rae collapsed into her mother’s arms, sobbing. "Mom…"

"Are there others? Who’s still alive?"

"Yeah, On-jo, Dae-su, Wu-jin—"

"Oh, the boy you’re obsessed with?"

"I AM NOT OBSESSED WITH HIM!"

Her mother smirked. "Sure, sure. Whatever you say."

But their reunion lasted only seconds.

"DA-RAE! LOOK OUT!"

A zombie attacked.

Her mother fought hard, shoving it back—until it bit her.

"MOM!! NO!!"

Da-rae’s entire world shattered as her mother stumbled, eyes wide in shock.

"Da-rae... this was too fast," her mother whispered, struggling to breathe. "If these are my last words… Stay alive. I love you so much, and I always will."

"Mom… I love you too," Da-rae choked, her tears falling uncontrollably.

"Goodbye…"

Then it happened.

The transformation.

Her body convulsed. Her eyes darkened. Her breathing stopped.

"H-HURRY UP! BEFORE I TURN!" her mother begged.
