"I still can't believe you're here. I've been waiting so long. It just doesn't feel real." You quietly spoke as you snuggled a little closer to Yeonjun.

You're currently lying in a field on a blanket as you stargaze with him after spending almost two long years apart.

It's been so long since you've felt his touch, his kisses, and his warm embrace.

Now that he's back, you never want to leave his side.

"It feels like I've been gone for an eternity. I've missed you so much." He whispered as he gently brushed his fingers through your hair.

Your head rested on his chest as you listened to his steady heartbeat and you gazed up at him with a smile so precious that it nearly made his heart burst.

"And what better day to return than on your birthday?"

You giggled happily and closed your eyes as he kissed your forehead.

He did that on purpose; made sure the day he'd return home after doing his duty to his country was on your birthday.

He wasn't going to be missing this one... not when he had a promise he had to fulfill and would make today even more special.

He's certain that the promise has slipped your mind now simply because you're so caught up in him and the fact that he's finally home again.

But he hasn't forgotten.

Not even for a second.

He's been planning this, memorizing his speech time and time again so this moment would be perfect.

"I love you so much, baby. Happy birthday."

His soft lips met yours and you smiled against them as he kissed you.

"Thank you, baby. I love you too." You said. "This is the best day ever and the best birthday ever."

"Yeah?" He grinned and watched you nod. "Well, it's about to get even better."

"How?" You asked. "This is so perfect already, Yeonjun, you don't have to do anything else."

He pulled away and sat up before leaning in to kiss your cheek lovingly.

"I know. But I want to. It's time." He said before taking a deep breath and grabbing your hands in his. "I love you more than anything."

"I love you too."

"And before I left, I promised you I was going to do this and I don't want to wait another second."

He squeezed your hands as you gazed at him in wonder, watching as his brown eyes filled with tears.

"We've been together for almost eight years now. You're the best thing that has ever happened to me and I can't imagine life without you. These last eighteen months without you by my side have been so hard for me. I don't ever want to be without you again. I want to spend forever with you."

He reached into his pocket as he shifted around on the blanket and got down on one knee.

You couldn't help but gasp at the sight in front of you; the love of your life on one knee with the most gorgeous ring you've ever seen in his hand.

All of your dreams were coming true right in front of your eyes.

"Y/N, will you marry me?"

"Yes!" You screamed immediately after he finished asking you, tears now filling your eyes as well. "Yes, Yeonjun! A thousand times yes!"

He smiled from ear to ear as he gently slid the ring on your finger.

"Oh, it's so beautiful." You grinned as you looked at your now fiancé through the blur of your happy tears.

"Just like my soon-to-be wife." He whispered softly before cupping your cheek and pulling you in for a kiss.

"I love you." You said as you pulled away from his lips and put your forehead against his. "And I can't wait to marry you."

"I love you more and I can't wait to marry you too, my love." He said before pulling you in for a huge hug. "I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."

"Me too." You happily said before you excitedly squealed, "We're getting married."

He laughed happily as he kissed your head and closed his eyes, feeling his heart swell.

"The last nearly eight years have been so amazing because you've been my side through it all. I can't wait for all the years to come." He whispered as he held you a little tighter, both of you so excited to spend forever together.
