2 Years Later
I sit on the beach with Lo'ak as we watch the sunrise together. Ever since the attack we've hardly left each other's sides as we were too afraid of losing one another. I lay my head on his shoulder and he had an arm wrapped tightly around my waist.
"I think I might go visit my mom today," I tell him.
"I think she'd like that," he responds and grabs my chin making me look towards him.
"You think?" I ask with a smile.
"I know," he leans in and kisses me. I pull away quickly and he looks offended. I just giggle at his face.
"We have stuff to do today Lo," I tell him as I stand up. He follows in suit. "We can't just sit here all day."
"But we could," he says as he pulls me closer to him by waist. I giggle a little bit and push his head away.
"As much as I would love to, I just have this feeling, I know I need to go see her," I look off into the distance in the direction of the spirit tree. "Just at some point today. My gut is telling me."
"Then I'll go with you," he reassures, grabbing my hand.
"No, I have to do this alone," I say as I look back to him and put a hand on his face.
"Okay, baby," he leans in slowly to me and this time I don't stop him. The kiss is soft and gentle, full of love and compassion. After a minute I pull away with a smile.
"My mother is still asking," he smiles at me and gives me a knowing look.
"I know she is," I say. "The time will come when we are ready. Eywa will bless us with a child when the time is right."
"Of course she will," Lo'ak responds. "But I don't think my mother is as quite as understanding as you are about the topic. Everytime I go near her she's basically demanding that I give her a grandbaby." I laugh with him.
"Everything will turn out just the way it's supposed to. I promise," I reassure him. "One day." He puts a hand on my stomach.
"One day," he repeats as he lays his forehead against mine.
"Now...!" I pull away from him with a giddy smile. "I must be off." I start to walk backwards away from him and let my hand slowly fall out of his.
"Be careful, my love," Lo'ak calls out to me.
"I will. Don't let your mother give you too much trouble," I warn.
"Will do," he signals a wave and I wave back. I finally turn around and head towards the docks where I see Tsireya. She's tending to the ilu but looks up when I walk over.
"Hey Reya," she greets me and pulls me into a hug. "How have you and Lo'ak been?" She pulls away.
"I've been doing good. Lo'ak has as well," I tell her. "We're just grateful to have each other."
"That's good to hear," she says. "His mother been giving you guys any more trouble?"
"Everyday," I smile as she giggles. "But it will happen when the time is right. I just don't think that it's right now."
"What does Lo'ak think?" she asks.
"Well I know he wants a little one running around," I tell her. "I do too, believe me. But there's something that I have to do and I don't think it would be the greatest idea to do it with a child." She looks at me confused.
"What do you have to do?" she asks.
"I don't know," I tell her and she giggles.
"Well when do you have to do it?" she asks with a smile on her face.
"I don't know that either," I laugh with her.
"Reya, you might want to figure that out," she playfully scolds me. "Going to the spirit tree again?"
"Yeah," I tell her. "I try to go once a week and I know that I've already been this week but something is just calling me there."
"Well never ignore a gut feeling like that," she tells me. "There's an ilu already saddled up and ready to go over there if you want to take it."
"Thanks Tsireya," I smile. "I'll see you later." She waves as I hop onto the ilu and start to drift off a little.
"Bye. Come and visit me later!" she yells and I give her a smile, turning around and setting off towards the spirit tree. As I get closer I start to feel more like I'm where I need to be. But the urge to be there gets stronger. After a little while I arrive at my destination and hop off of my ilu into the water. I pat her on the head and stroke her back before I start to descend down towards the glowing tree.
Once I get close enough to it, the tree starts to glow brighter. I pull my braid from behind my back and extend it out towards the tree and when it connects I feel like I'm pulled even closer. The energy of the tree flows through my body as I close my eyes and I start to hear Eywa's voice. It is time for your greater purpose.
