56 ? long overdue

Katsuki extended his hand out, fingers curling into a fist.

"You're gonna fight me. Right here, right now!"

"Why?!" Izuku exclaimed, eyes going wide.

Your reaction mirrored his own. Of all things, why did it have to come to that?

"This is a really, really bad idea!" Izuku insisted, frantically waving his hands all over the place. "At the very least, if we're going to do it, we should do it during training or something! There's no good reason it has to happen now! I told [Name]-chan to give us space to talk because I didn't think you'd suggest something like this! You've already said your part, now let's just-"

"You just don't fucking get it. If we actually start fighting seriously and giving it our all, they're going to stop us. It needs to happen now. I want to know what exactly is so fucking great about you... that All Might himself would choose you. If your aspirations were so much greater than mine, does that mean I was wrong this whole time?"

Katsuki's voice trembled a bit near the end. He wasn't just angry. More than that, you could tell that he was working through his own pained emotions. His feelings of insecurity, jealousy, regret and bitterness... all of it was conveyed in his voice. And it was enough to make you feel it, too.

But even so, resorting to violence was wrong.

"Hold on a minute!" Izuku spluttered. "We can't seriously do this! Kacchan, we just can't-!"

It was too late. Katsuki had already set off explosions in his palms and was surging towards Izuku at a dizzying speed. You ran out from behind the building as fast as you possibly could, making sure that you made it into Katsuki's peripheral vision.

"STOP IT!"

Your Quirk just barely activated in time. Katsuki's expression went slack, and the interruption gave Izuku just enough time to jump out of the way. Katsuki stumbled forward, nearly falling over from having his powers cancelled out so suddenly.

"[N-Name]-chan?!" Izuku cried out in horror. "You still came after us? How... just how much did you hear?"

"All of it," you confessed, much to Izuku's dismay. "I would never tell anyone, so that's the last thing you need to worry about right now. But regardless, you guys can't just resort to beating the crap out of each other. It isn't right."

You'd cancelled your Quirk right away, so Katsuki regained control quickly enough. He was slightly disoriented at first, but then he finally locked eyes with you, his lips falling into the most hateful grimace he'd given you in a very long time.

"Figures you wouldn't listen and worry about your own shit." He stood up and stepped closer to you. Even though you bristled somewhat, you didn't let him scare you. "You've heard everything, which sucks, but I had a feeling it would turn out this way. You just have to get whatever you want. Every single time. And now what? You're going to stop us? You'll use your powers again and make sure we can't even get a hold of ourselves, is that it?"

Your face fell. "I... just don't understand why you have to do this through a fight. I haven't known either of you for all that long. A few months, at best. Obviously, I can't act like I understand what you both went through for these past couple years. But so what if Izuku got his Quirk from All Might? Is that really such a bad thing? Based on what you said, he never had a Quirk, and I at least know how desperate he is to become a hero. All Might gave him his power because he probably saw how badly he wanted to save people, that's true, but it doesn't make you any lesser by comparison."

"You're right about one thing, and it's that you really don't understand," he spat. "How it feels to be looked down on by someone who you always thought was weaker than you, and then to have that same person receive a gift from your greatest hero."
