The second day at Advanced Nurturing High School dawned. "Normal" was a laughable term to describe this place, with its bizarre hierarchy system based on levels, a weird currency, and exams unlike any I'd ever encountered. Only the cream of the crop reaped the rewards – a guaranteed job after graduation and the freedom to choose any college they desired.
I stretched, emerging from sleep in a surprisingly comfortable bed. So comfortable, in fact, that it felt almost engineered to lull you back into slumber and make you late. I wouldn't be surprised if some unsuspecting student overshot their first bell because of it.
Enough about the bed. A quick shower washed away the remnants of sleep, and I donned my uniform, taking extra care with my appearance. Today was all about first impressions, and I didn't want to stumble out of the gate.
The elevator doors slid open as I waited, revealing a vision in blonde. Her hair, the color of wheat and reaching her hips, was tied back with a white bow, a few strands framing her face. Her eyes were a clear blue, and her figure undeniably well-proportioned. Why did every girl in this school seem to be a knock-out?
I walked in the lift and greeted her
"Hey Nanase-chan"
she tilted her head in confusion
"-chan?"
*if you are wondering why she asked that, its because -chan is usually for people you are close to, and to say that the other person is cute....*
"well your cute, and your going to be my classmate for 3 years, so wouldn't it be better to skip the formalities?"
A blush crept up Nanase's cheeks at your words. It's not every day someone calls someone calls you cute, especially not someone you just met. coughs to regain composure
"Well, I... I guess you have a point, but calling someone -chan so suddenly is a bit... surprising"
Nanase trails off, tilting her head in thought. "But, if you're really set on it, I suppose I can't stop you. After all, we will be classmates for a while. In that case, you can call me Tsubasa, and... what's your name?"
woah first name basis with a cute girl in the first conversation. I am really the best.
"Its Oreki Kagenou, you can call me Oreki"
"Oreki, huh? It's nice to meet you. Tsubasa Nanase, at your service." bows slightly
While Tsubasa appreciates the forwardness, a part of her can't help but be wary. This school breeds a certain level of suspicion, and my casualness throws her off a little.
she eyes me curiously
"So, Oreki, what brings you to address me so... openly? Is there a reason you want to be friends so quickly?"
"why not, of course I would want to after what happened yesterday"
"Haha, well, of course. Hosen isn't exactly subtle, is he?"
She keeps her voice light, but a flicker of something in her eyes betrays a deeper understanding of the situation. leans in slightly
"So, Oreki, what about you? Any thoughts on how things are going to play out in Class D?"
"Who knows what happens in this school, but if I have to guess withing 2 months this class may become class A, if everyone tries their hardest"
Tsubasa raises an eyebrow, surprised by my optimism. In Class D, the idea of rising to Class A seems like a distant dream, bordering on naivety. a small smirk plays on her lips
