Chapter 4: Character Introduction: Tsubasa Nanase

Start from the beginning

I react instinctively, reaching out and grasping his wrist in a surprisingly firm grip. Hosen falters, his eyes widening in shock. No one in Class D had ever dared to challenge him like this.

Hosen: (Voice low and dangerous) What the...? Let go, pipsqueak! You're asking for a world of hurt! (He tries to wrench his arm free, but my grip holds surprisingly firm.)

My fingers tighten around Hosen's wrist, applying a vice-like pressure that forces him to grunt and bend slightly at the waist. The sudden shift in power dynamics hangs heavy in the air. The playful smirk from earlier is wiped clean from his face, replaced by a mixture of surprise and dawning respect.

Me: (My voice is a low growl, the darkness in my eyes mirroring Hosen's own for a fleeting moment. It's a calculated risk, a show of force that throws him off balance.) Didn't think a Class D lackey could pack such a punch, did you, Hosen-sama?

The classroom holds its breath. No one has ever dared to speak to Hosen with such blatant disrespect. Even Nanase seems intrigued, her posture shifting as she observes the unexpected turn of events.

Hosen: (Grumbling, his voice strained from the pressure on his wrist) ...What the hell are you...? Let go! Now!

He struggles against my grip, but my hold remains firm. The power dynamic has shifted, and the students can't help but stare, a mixture of fear and newfound respect flickering in their eyes.

Me: (My voice stays level, a chilling contrast to the rising tension) I believe I made my request quite clear. A little visit to Class 2-D, perhaps?

Hosen hesitates, the air crackling with unspoken threats. He knows he can overpower me eventually, but my unexpected display of strength and audacity has disrupted his usual dominance. A grudging respect starts to simmer beneath his anger.

Hosen: (Scowling, he finally releases a breath) Fine. You win this round, pipsqueak. Go to your precious Class 2-D. But don't come crying back to Class D when they realize what kind of trouble you've gotten yourself into.

He yanks his arm free, nursing a bruised ego and a newfound awareness of the potential hidden within the ranks of his "pawns." A low growl escapes him, but it doesn't carry the same level of threat anymore. He throws a final glare your way before turning towards the door, Nanase following close behind.

Nanase: (A sly smile playing on her lips as she passes me) Not bad, Oreki. Not bad at all. Seems Class D might just have a bit more bite than we first thought. (She winks before catching up to Hosen.)

Just like I planned, its good that I didn't do anything yesterday, which made all these people think that I was just another 'normal' student.

*Flashback*

I was sitting still in my desk and as soo as Shiba-sensei left we were packing up to go to the gymnasium, but then a certain gorilla stood up and started speaking

Hosen: (Voice booming, a hint of a feral grin playing on his lips) Alright, listen up, ya bunch of misfits! You're looking at your new glorious leader, Hosen. And from now on, things are gonna change around here.

A few students flinch, others exchange skeptical glances. This doesn't faze him.

"This ain't some fancy tea party thrown by your sugar-coated teachers. This is Class D, the bottom of the barrel. But hey, gotta start somewhere, right? We may be the rejects, the underdogs, but that don't mean we gotta stay down here forever."

He scans the room, his gaze locking onto a student in the back, lost in a daydream.

"You, daydreamer! Yeah, you in the back row. Think this classroom's a five-star resort? Wrong! This is a battlefield, and you're in it now."
