Off the Tracks | F1 Story

Riley was fully ready for the day early the next morning. She walked down the hall from her bedroom to find Arthur quickly, and placed a small knock on his door. Arthur already knew that it was Riley knocking, no one else would've tried to wake him when the sun wasn't even up.

Riley heard him groan as he woke up, telling her she could come in. Riley opened the door, walking into the room while Arthur was sitting up in bed slowly. Riley held both of their journals in hand.

Arthur's eyes widened slightly when he saw it, wondering how much she's read already.

"I was thinking about going to the beach" Riley whispered to him, sitting on the edge of his bed. "I wanted you to come with me" She said, "To write I mean"

"What time is it" He asked her, looking outside onto the balcony.

"Maybe 4:00?"

Arthur sighed quietly, getting out of bed. Riley looked away from him quickly when she realized he was just in boxers.

"Why do we have to go to the beach right now?" He asked her, walking over to the bag he had placed at the end of his bed.

"I couldn't sleep" She told him, finally looking at him as she stood up. "And I want to go to Myrtle beach, but it's 2 hours away so" She kept her eyes on his the entire time they spoke to each other, not letting them fall short.

"I'll be ready in a few minutes" He told her with a small rasp in his voice from just waking up. Riley smiled when she started walking out of his room.

"Hurry so we can watch the sunrise" She said, walking out of the room quickly.

Riley was heading downstairs to pack a few towels into a bag, and find a pen or pencil for the both of them to write. She moved around the house quietly, trying to push down her guilt about being excited to be with Arthur today and tomorrow without anyone else around.

Riley had to walk into Josie's room to get the beach towels. She walked in quietly, seeing open boxes that were full of clothing and different items her and Josh started packing up the other day. She walked into the large closet, grabbing two towels from the top shelf before moving to leave the room. Riley nearly tripped over a box that she hadn't seen on the floor, hearing the sound of a couple vases clash against each other.

"Shit" Riley said, crouching down to make sure nothing broke in the box. She let out a sigh of relief when she saw everything was intact.

She made her way out of Josie's room and into the kitchen where she put her tote bag she was going to pack everything in. Riley placed the towels into the bag, looking up when she heard footsteps from someone walking into the kitchen.

"Where are you going" Sloan asked her quietly, going into the cupboard to grab a glass for water.

"Myrtle beach"

"Shit can I come" Sloan asked, "I'll be ready in like 3 minutes" She rushed her words out.

"I'm actually going with Arthur already" Riley said, glancing up at her.

"Oh that's fine" Sloan said, looking at Riley and seeing how she was waiting for a judgmental comment. But Sloan wasn't their parents, she didn't care who Riley was with as long as she was happy, and she assumed this meant Riley was happy with Arthur.

"So are you breaking up with Liam" Sloan asked Riley, walking up to her side.

"What do you think?" Riley said, very obviously battling thoughts in her head.

"Well what's going on with you and Arthur"

"Nothing" Riley shrugged, "We're just friends"

"Friends that hooked up" Sloan said, grabbing the glass she placed on the counter. "Choose the one who showed up" She said, walking out of the kitchen, leaving Riley alone.
