"Thanks," he laughed, hugging you back. "I feel better now after hearing that. I'll do my best! Amajiki-senpai is strong enough to be in the Big Three, so I'm going to have to prove that I have what it takes to stand by his side."
"You can do it," you reassured. Kirishima had been strong since day one. Not only that, but he was kind and cooperative, both essential qualities for a hero. You hoped he wasn't doubting himself, because he had no reason to. He was easily one of the strongest members of the whole class.
You remembered something all of a sudden, then hastily pulled away.
"Done with the hug already?" Kirishima asked, looking a bit disappointed.
"We can hug more in a bit. I wanted to show you this first. I guarantee it'll make you nearly pee your pants from laughing."
You pulled out your phone and proudly displayed the picture you'd taken earlier, of Izuku's All Might face, which had since become your lock screen.
Kirishima immediately clamped a palm over his mouth. "Pfft! No way! Is that really Midoriya?"
From across the room, you could hear a screech building up in the back of Izuku's throat.
"[Name]-chan!" he whined. "I just knew you would go around showing people!"
You pocketed your phone with an all too smug grin. Meanwhile, Kirishima was downright howling from laughter. You didn't want to tease Izuku too much, but that picture really was golden. Besides, you were glad that Kirishima's spirits had been lifted somewhat, because there was something telling you that just like Tamaki, he was also struggling to be confident in himself.
Izuku got all huffy and indignant, but he was way too cute to take seriously. After getting berated (not really) by him, you eventually trudged back to your room. You would be starting your internship placement tomorrow, after all. You needed to finish up all your homework so that you could tuck in early for the night.
You combed through the various papers and books strewn across your desk. It was becoming rather disorganized. You would really have to take the time to sort things out and put them back in their rightful places.
While you searched for one of your notebooks, your eyes couldn't help but drift towards a small pouch that had been buried under various miscellanea. At first, you had no idea what the hell it was supposed to be, but once you opened it up to take a look, you remembered.
Oh, right. That random girl gave me these pomegranate seeds a little while ago. I forgot I still had them.
You lifted the pouch up a bit and took a cautious sniff. It hadn't been very long since you'd had them, and they smelled fine, for the most part. Were you actually going to eat them? No way. You had no idea what that girl might have done to tamper with them.
Yeah. Eating them would be incredibly dumb.
Apparently, though, you were in a dumb mood today.
It mostly tasted tart, but also a bit sweet-the way any ordinary pomegranate would. You felt perfectly fine after eating it, and you suddenly felt a bit guilty for even suspecting the girl of trying to do you any harm. She was a U.A student, just like you, training to become a hero. A hero certainly wouldn't go around poisoning people. She probably just really liked pomegranates and felt inclined to share them with you.
"Yummy," was all you said, finishing the rest of the seeds too. In the moment, you were just happy to have a little snack. You didn't realize how much weight they actually held.
