We strolled towards the poolside area, where many people were enjoying the serene atmosphere. Another family had also arrived for a wedding on the same day we did. We settled onto the benches, while the men in our group sat farther away, taking in the breathtaking view of the sunset.
I was wearing a saree today, as Rudra's mother had suggested it would be fitting for the afternoon pooja. We were all having a great time, but our tranquility was disrupted when I heard Nandini's voice, arguing with a group of guys.
One of them had grabbed her hand and was attempting to touch her inappropriately. I saw red and immediately intervened, holding his hand back and pushing him away.
"Are you okay, Nandini?" I asked, concern etched on my face.
"Yes, bhabhi, let's just leave," she replied, her voice shaking.
But I was not having it. "No, we can't just let him off the hook. He needs to learn a lesson," I said firmly.
Nandini pleaded with me to drop it, but I was resolute. Just then, one of the boys shouted, "Hey, where do you think you're going? Come back and let's settle this!"
I called out to Kia, who was on a phone call. She rushed over, sensing something was amiss. I pointed to the boys, and she quickly grasped the situation. We both picked up sticks from the nearby benches, and I tied my saree pallu around my waist, preparing for a confrontation.
"Come on, let's show them how it's done," I said, charging towards the boys.
Kia followed close behind, and together we began to chase them away, sticks in hand. "You dare to touch my sister-in-law? You're going to regret this!" I shouted.
The boys yelped in pain as we chased them, eventually fleeing the scene. Our family members rushed over, shocked by the commotion.
"Princess, what's going on? Why are you beating them up?" my brother asked, trying to intervene.
"They were harassing Nandini," I explained, still fuming. "They deserved it."
Kia chimed in, "Now they'll think twice before messing with us again."
