I peeked around the corner.
Kyle's locker was right over there, and he was in there cafeteria before lunch started. He was always early.
I knew his locker combination from back when we were friends. Glad I kept it.
I twisted the knob and slammed open the locker, finding his open backpack and a library book.
I had a post-it note in my backpack and some chocolate milk. Cartman was infamous the beverage he always drank.
On the sticky note, I attempted to copy Eric's handwriting, which was almost illegible. On it, I wrote: Jew! Go to the library and get a new copy! You'll owe them money!
This is exactly what Cartman did last time he got Kyle and I into the library alone. I knew Kyle wasn't stupid, but I thought this would link the whole setup on Cartman because he was dumb enough to do the same thing twice. Maybe he'd think I wasn't involved.
I grabbed the book and poured some chocolate milk on it, it took a while because I hated to ruin a good book. Finally, I chucked it back in the locker and slammed the sticky note on it, shutting it quietly. Now all I needed to do was wait.
I walked over to the cafeteria and met all of my friends at the lunch table. Cartman was informed about the roller skating on Saturday, but I don't think he knew about the whole Marjorine thing.
"Butters!" Kenny yelled, "Are you okay?"
He was looking at Marjorine's finger, I guess she hit it. But this proved my next point. Marjorine wasn't out to Cartman yet, and clearly didn't want to be. It must be hard for Kenny to keep calling her by her dead name and pronouns.
Eventually, like all days, I zoned out of the conversation and looked over to Kyle's table. He wasn't over there today, which I couldn't blame him for. His "friends" told everyone about his dating profile. That must suck.
I peered around the cafeteria, looking for his iconic green hat. Sooner or later, I saw it poking out in an isolated corner.
Kyle sat there, looking incredibly sad. He just batted at his food with the fork, not eating anything.
I pulled out my phone while watching him. Maybe I could make his day a little better.
Boo <3: hey, you ok? you aren't really eating
I saw Kyle's eyes widen in surprise as he pulled out his phone.
Ky: Oh hey! Sorry, it's just that my friend's betrayed me and all. I need some advice.
Boo <3: what's up?
Ky: Well, you probably know about Stan and I falling out.
I nearly choked on my food. He was talking to me about me?
Boo <3: well yeah, everyone knows about that, why do you ask?
Ky: Well I wanted to be his friend again, until I found out that he was spying on me.
Boo <3: he was spying on you?
Ky: Yeah! He put an audio chip in my backpack. Can you believe that?!
Boo <3: jeez, well, what are you gonna do?
Ky: That's why I came to you. I don't know what to do! I've missed Stan for a while and he's out of his depressive phase, but I don't know if he wants to be my friend either. And how can I trust him anymore?
Boo <3: well, sounds to me like you both have changed. for the worse or for the better. maybe you should try to befriend him but still be weary. and if he betrays you again, you can leave him?
