"I'm really glad you think so. And yes, I can control people to some degree, but it differs based on who the target is. During that fight, I was struggling to put my opponent under the effects of my Quirk, so I felt like I had no choice but to resort to a kiss. I can't exactly disclose all the details, though."

He nodded in understanding. "That's alright. I know heroes can't just reveal all the tricks they have up their sleeve. Oh, by the way, what's your hero name? Do you have one yet?"

"It's Aphrodite," you replied, noting the way his brows lifted.

"Huh? Oh. I get it now. Because you can charm people with your powers, right? That's neat! Since you're in your costume, I guess you must be working right now." He paused, suddenly looking a bit sheepish. "Um... I hope I'm not overstepping, but a friend of mine is actually a huge fan of yours. I mean, I obviously think you're super cool too, but he's basically obsessed with you. I was with him until just a few minutes ago, actually. While you're still in the area, would you maybe mind posing for a picture with him? I know it would really mean a lot."

You scratched your cheek. "Well, I think that should be okay. He's nearby, you said? I'm supposed to be on patrol right now, so I can't go out too far."

"He's close!" the young man insisted. "I'll text him right now and let him know to meet us in the middle. Thank you so much for doing this."

Something like this was fun every now and then. Since you were barely a licensed hero, you definitely weren't anywhere near as well-known as people like Hawks or even Sir Nighteye. Seeing that someone was so excited to have run into you made your chest feel all warm and tingly. In terms of heroic accomplishments, you hadn't even begun to scratch the surface yet, but it was really nice knowing that there were people who already looked up to you.

You diligently followed behind the young man, making sure to keep an eye on your surroundings as you walked. Still no sign of trouble, which was good. You also hadn't gotten any messages from either Izuku or Mirio, so you could only assume their patrols were proceeding just as smoothly.

"Are we close?" you couldn't help but ask. You'd been walking for a few minutes already, and you didn't want to stray too far from your post.

The young man glanced back over his shoulder and nodded encouragingly. "Almost there. Let's make a right turn. It won't be much longer."

You kept on following him, and you were so content with knowing you had supporters that the situation dawned on you far too late. You suddenly realized that the area you were in was completely devoid of any people.

"Um-"

The rest of your words didn't make it out. The young man abruptly grabbed you by the arm, pulling you into a nearby alleyway. He brandished a knife and tried to slash at your throat, but your reflexes kicked in, allowing you to avoid his strike and knock the knife out of his grip.

"Stop moving," you demanded, activating your Quirk. You grabbed hold of him by the shoulders, and it thankfully didn't take long for his entire body to go slack. He crumpled all the way to the ground, dazed and incapacitated. You were out of breath, chest heaving from the realization that someone had just tried to kill you.

But you weren't even allowed a moment's respite, because there was another person waiting in that same alley.

"It's pointless to try and run," Chisaki muttered. His voice was low and gravelly, and while not entirely unpleasant to the ear, the malice in his tone was enough to make a shiver rip down your spine. Your brain just barely processed the information in time, and you lunged at him before he could do the same to you.
