As I finished dressing his wound, I couldn't help but notice that he had been staring at me continuously. His expression was unreadable, and he didn't flinch even once, despite the pain he must have been feeling.
I did it only because he had helped me when I was burnt, I told myself. It wasn't because I cared for him or anything. Why should I care for him when he clearly didn't care for me?
"Done," I said, stepping back from him.
He didn't even acknowledge me, simply getting up and leaving the room. Rude and arrogant, I thought to myself. A simple "thank you" wouldn't have killed him.
I went to the bathroom and took a refreshing shower, changing into comfortable clothes – a baggy t-shirt and pajamas. As I headed downstairs for dinner, I noticed that everyone was already seated, except for Revansh. He must be in his office, I thought. Didn't I tell you guys he's a workaholic?
"Beta, are you okay? Why was he angry with you?" Maa asked, concern etched on her face.
"Yes, Maa, I'm fine," I replied.
"Bhabhi, bhai was looking very angry. Is everything okay?" Nandini asked, her eyes wide with worry.
I took a deep breath and told them everything that had happened that day. At first, they were shocked, and then their expressions turned angry.
"That useless guy! How dare he touch my child? Revansh did the right thing," Dadi exclaimed.
"Are you okay, beta? Did he harm you anywhere?" Maa asked, her voice laced with concern.
"Yes, Maa, I'm okay, thanks to Revansh. He came just in time," I replied.
Just then, Rian exclaimed, "Mommy!" and ran towards me. Revansh was standing behind him, a hint of a smile on his face.
Thank goodness he's not looking angry anymore, I thought.
Revansh put Rian down, and he came running towards me. "Mommy, I missed you!" he exclaimed.
"Hadn't we met in the afternoon, baby?" I teased, ruffling his hair.
He pouted, looking adorable. Sometimes I just want to eat his chubby cheeks, I thought.
"Let's eat," I said to Rian, and we sat down at our respective chairs. Revansh joined us, and we began our meal in silence.
After dinner, we all sat in the hall, chatting and laughing. Rudra and Naina had left for their honeymoon in Paris the previous day.
"Baby, let's go to sleep. You have to wake up early, na?" I said to Rian, getting up from my seat.
Revansh looked up at me, his eyes meeting mine for a brief moment before he looked away. I felt a shiver run down my spine, but I quickly brushed it off.
