As we entered the house, I handed Nandini the bags containing the gifts and instructed her to hide them in her room so Rian wouldn't see them. She quickly went upstairs to conceal the surprises. Meanwhile, everyone was gathered in the garden, enjoying the evening snacks and tea.
I've never been a fan of tea, and the reason dates back to when I was 14 years old. As a science student, I was aware of the potential side effects of excessive tea consumption, which only strengthened my dislike for it.
Chachi invited us to join the others, and we sat down together. Angel ran towards me, and I greeted her warmly, "Haaye baby!" She responded with a cheerful "Hii mami!" I hinted that I had a surprise for her, but she would have to wait a few days. Her curiosity was piqued, and she asked why.
I teased her, saying it would be a surprise, and changed the subject to Rian's upcoming birthday. However, Angel's expression turned somber, and she revealed that she didn't know when her own birthday was and had never celebrated it.
My heart went out to her, and I felt a surge of compassion. Rian, sensing the situation, intervened and promised Angel that they would celebrate their birthdays together.
Angel's face lit up, and she began clapping and jumping with joy. Her smile was infectious, and I couldn't help but smile too. Rian asked Ansh if it was okay, and I caught a glimpse of Ansh's smile and nod of approval from the corner of my eye. It was a rare and pleasant sight.
Dadi praised Rian, saying, "Hamara Rian bohot samajhdaar ho gaya hai" (Our Rian has become very smart). Rian flipped his short hair and replied,
"Grany, from childhood, I am!" I was taken aback by his confidence and couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. Ansh, who had been quiet until then, spoke up, and Angel ran to him, sitting on his lap. They started talking and playing, and I was surprised to see this softer side of Ansh.
As the day went by, everyone played with Angel and Rian, while I tried to ignore Ansh's piercing gaze. I could feel his eyes on me, but I chose to disregard it. The days passed, and Rian's birthday finally arrived.
I had wished him at midnight with a cake I had made, and he was overjoyed, emotional, and grateful for the motherly love he had been craving for six long years.
In the days leading up to his birthday, I had made a conscious effort to ignore Ansh, sleeping before him to avoid any alone time.
I had felt his gaze on me multiple times, but I had chosen to disregard it, pretending he didn't exist. Now, as Rian's birthday celebrations were in full swing, I couldn't help but wonder what the day had in store for us.
I got ready in beautiful sleeveless dark blue velvet gown.
