Chapter 6- Unseen Threads: Join Us

Shirley and Trevor's bond is growing stronger each day. They don't speak with each other, but their eyes do. They don't feel the need to talk but stay around each other. Trevor is still the rebellious, notorious boy, and Shirley is still careful about her studies. Nobody could ever expect them to be a couple. They might not be officially a pair, but their heart knows they are together somehow. When they got used to seeing each other daily, Trevor got involved in a scuffle and was suspended for a week. How will they tackle not seeing each other every day?

Trevor Pov:

This unspoken bond binds me with Shirley so firmly that I forget I have a girlfriend. Anyway, my girlfriend hardly cares about me. I came to know she was using me as a trophy boyfriend. I'll break up with her ASAP. No one besides Shirley ever crosses my mind. Shirley never takes any extra coaching and studies by herself. Given her reserved personality and good academics, she doesn't need any additional guidance.

Though her best friend Pam joined the same tuition my friend group and I attended, it was a teacher at our school. Here, I found an excellent chance to approach Shirley indirectly. Ron was on talking terms with Pam. I took my chance and asked Ron to pass my message to Pam, and he just kept ignoring me. I felt so annoyed at him. I am sure he either likes Shirley or hates her to his core.

Shirley Pov:

A strong bond is binding me with Trevor. For the first time, I look forward to attending school for anything besides my studies. I always try to talk to Trevor, but he is always surrounded by his buddies or, sometimes, by a few girls in our class. There is a particular girl who is constantly hitting on him. I feel so annoyed that I left the class and completely ignored him.

One day, a senior boy was roaming around near our class. I knew him from my first day at school. He was the one who tried to bully the new girls. I escaped this prank since Pam and I came late that day. Since that day, he has tried his best to find a way to bully us. He tried to pass some snide remarks to scare us. I didn't give much importance to his remarks as fighting or arguing with seniors would be useless; they want you to react, and then they can create drama. He stood in the corridor laughing with his group, and I didn't know how he found out my name. " Why don't you read us, Shirley?" I froze when I heard my name and couldn't react.

Soon, I heard the window near my bench smash. As I peeped out, I saw Trevor scuffling with that bully. Trevor had flunked in the last class, and he must know him well as a classmate. A fight broke out between them, and teachers had to get involved.  I could hear Trevor's rage when he screamed, " How dare you take her name?" the 'her' denoted me.

Trevor and the bully were taken to the principal's office and suspended for a week. When I learned about it, I felt so guilty that he had to fight for me and that I would not be able to see him for a whole week. At this point, nothing could be more disheartening. Trevor returned to the class and collected his only notebook and his bike keys from Ron. Our eyes met, and I could only apologize for what had happened. I just wished to hold his hand and drag him back to his place. He just gave one last look to me and left. This one week will feel like a year to me.

Trevor Pov:

Shirley and I were most likely dating unofficially, but I don't know whether she likes me that much. It was a regular day when I saw Trex roaming outside our class. I knew him well, as we had been classmates for a long time.

I knew Trex meant ill for any girl he targeted. He would not bully and stalk her. He recently started eyeing the new girls, especially Pam and Shirley. I saw him passing some snide comments, but Shirley didn't pay much attention to him, which is what he aimed for. But as soon he took her name, I felt a rush of anger within me. I went out of the class, held him by his collar and smashed him against the window, "How dare you take her name?"

I punched him badly until the teachers got involved and took us to the principal's office. We were suspended for a week. I am frankly used to suspension, but this time, I felt bad because it meant I could not see Shirley for a whole week. For the first time, I wanted my suspension to be cancelled. I punched him because he passed snide comments on Shirley, and it was my instinct to beat him up for that.

I went back to class to collect my notebook and bike keys from Ron. I had stopped carrying a school bag since high school. I met Shirley's eyes. For the first time, I saw sadness and regret in them. I felt terrible about getting suspended. I felt as if she wanted to stop me. I left with a heavy heart. This one week will feel like a year to me.

A big hug to all my readers for reading this far. Please let me know what changes or plots you expect next for Trevor and Shirley. A lot more twists are coming in the following parts. I appreciate all your comments and votes and would love to engage with all of you.

Yours sincerely, Riya!! :-)
