I FOLLOWED THE WOLF inside the mansion. It was dark inside and imposing, lit only by the faint flickering light of the oil lamps on the wall.
How the hell can anyone live like this? I wouldn't be surprised if someone had fallen in the middle of the night just by getting a glass of milk.
I could hear the sounds of hushed whispers and voices coming from behind closed doors. The wolf led me through a labyrinth of corridors and down a flight of stairs. Finally, we came to a stop in front of a large oak door.
"It's me alpha," the wolf says out loud.
A deep voice echoed behind the door, "Enter."
The door slowly creaked open slowly, revealing a spacious office room. A fireplace crackled faintly in the corner, casting shadows across the room. At the center, a man sat in the chair. His presence commanding the entire room. This was their alpha, a tall and muscular figure with sharp eyes.
He looked up as we entered, his gaze was cold. "Bring her closer" he ordered with dominance. The wolf nudge his head on my leg.
I took a few steps, feeling overwhelmed by him. My heart tells me to run, that I'm going to be in danger. Every part of my bone is scared by this man. But, I tried to ignore those feelings and kept my composure in control. "Let's speak privately."
The alpha studied me for a moment, his eyes flickering over my body. He leaned back in his chair, his gaze never leaving my face. "Very well," he said after a long moment.
The wolf who brought me here left the room, closing the door behind him. The alpha gestured towards a chair on the opposite side of his desk.
"Sit here." He commanded.
I walked forward and sat down on the chair. The alpha watched me intensely. I felt uncomfortable. I looked at him in his eyes.
"Speak," he growled.
"I'm here to make a deal," I replied, trying to sound confident. "I can help you with your health— but of course I need something in return."
The man's gaze seemed to harden, he leaned slightly forward. "And what makes you think I would want to make a deal with you?"
I took a deep breath, "Because I can help you. I know your pack is currently fighting another pack... or at least not in good terms" I responded.
He was silent for about a minute or two, in deep thoughts. Finally, he says something, "And what exactly you want in return?" He asked.
I look down where my hands were. I sighed, "I need a powerful wolf to get rid of a curse that I have. I have touched a cursed coin, and I heard a wolf can cure this."
I looked up to see the alpha expression. It was unreadable, but I could sense a hint of evilness in those eyes. His eyes never left my face.
He finally smirks, "Maybe I can. But of course, I need your spells." He puts his forearm on the table, "You know, I don't like witches at all. They all selfish, they like to harm people or curse others just because they want to." He stands up from his chair, towering over me. "You came here alone. Asking for a 'deal' when I could just do anything to you right now. Sick or not."
The alpha walks around his desk, now standing in front of me. I took a step back, "That's not true, none of that is true." I replied, my heart was beating fast.
