"See? Case and point."
Much like yesterday's dinner, it was really, really loud. But you of course didn't mind. Perhaps this study session wouldn't turn out to be as productive as you'd first hoped, but it was already doing wonders for your mental wellbeing. Yaoyorozu and Iida were the most diligent of the bunch, so they were able to put everyone back on track whenever it got too out of hand.
"Whoa. Yaomomo, you're solving all those questions so fast," you marveled. "I think you're just built different from the rest of us."
She blushed, but returned your words with a warm smile. "Practice makes perfect. I've invested a lot more time into my studies than the average student, so I've basically developed a muscle memory for this sort of thing. But anyone would be able to do the same if they tried. It's all just a matter of applying yourself."
"So, even a dummy like me can place first in the class?" Kaminari asked, eyes gleaming and wide.
"Not a chance," was Katsuki's reply, and just like that, they were fighting again.
Yaoyorozu let out a sigh. "Goodness, they're all so unfocused. That's what I mean by needing to develop proper study habits. You need a lot of diligence if you want to start seeing results. Anyways, if you don't mind, [Name]-san, I can show you a trick I like to use for solving these kinds of problems. It makes the overall process a lot simpler."
If she hadn't been set on becoming a hero, then Yaoyorozu would have surely made an incredible teacher. It was crazy how someone could be this smart.
"I think I might have just fallen in love with you," you said matter-of-factly.
Her palms flew up to cover her gaping mouth, and she turned red as a beet in a matter of seconds. You were starting to realize that a lot of your classmates were quite easy to embarrass. As someone who was rather shameless, you couldn't really relate, but you definitely thought it was cute.
"T-Those kinds of jokes aren't good for my heart," Yaoyorozu mumbled bashfully.
You giggled and looped your arm around hers, sticking close to her side while you solved questions together. She certainly didn't seem to mind the close proximity, otherwise she would probably have pushed you away. Well, that and the fact that a smile kept twitching across her lips.
For a while, it was relatively quiet, since Katsuki had stopped arguing with Kaminari for the most part. Everyone seemed to be focused on studying, and apart from a few hushed exchanges every time someone wanted to compare their work, it was rather peaceful.
It would be nice if things could stay like this forever, but unfortunately, you weren't that naïve.
A few days later, you and Izuku received a sudden call from Sir Nighteye. You hadn't actually been on any patrols since the day Chisaki had killed you, and it had provided you with a brief but much-needed respite.
"Apparently we don't need to wear our costumes today," Izuku frowned. "I wonder what that's about."
"Maybe we're just strategizing?" you suggested. "If we're not patrolling the area or going out in public, I guess there's no need for costumes."
As it turned out, you and Izuku weren't the only ones headed off to your internships. You ran into Kirishima outside of the dorm building, as well as Uraraka and Tsuyu. Since you were all leaving at the same time, you walked to the train station together.
