The trainees get off the bus one after another. They follow their training supervisor and enter the provincial station’s building.
They head to the lobby on the ground floor first, and then make their way to the history and heroic events section. They spend quite a bit of time at these two places.
And then it’s the criminal investigation team.
There isn’t much to see at an office for this kind of occupation. Therefore, the crowd either only takes a peek from passing by the doorway, or they stop at the doorway to have a chat with an investigator and then leave.
But Helen looks around and has his eyes on one of the desks. He noticed the tiny black box on the desk, So yes this must be The Prapai Patheera's desk.
Helen can’t help feeling proud of himself.
The desktop is very tidy with not many things laying on top of it. A few file boxes are standing on the right corner. Helen just grabs the tiny box. He looks around to ensure that no one is looking. He picks up the pen on the table, takes the sticky note, and writes: “You still owe me a meal! Goodbye! (•‿•)”
Just as he is finishing writing he hears a voice speak behind him, “What are you doing?”
His shoulders shake from being startled. He turns his head, and sees Prapai's dark brown eyes.
With one arm pressing against the table and the other in his pocket, he stares at Helen.
Helen's face flushes immediately. He stands back up straight as if nothing has happened, “Nothing. I’m here visiting.”
Prapai glances at him and flips through the notebook in front of him. Helen watches his side profile, and feels the urge to escape right away.
His gaze lands on the line of words.
And then……
He lifts his head to look at him.
Helen looks far away to somewhere as if he has nothing to do with it.
“Let’s go,” Prapai stuffs both of his hands into his pockets and walks towards the exit.
Helen is struck dumb, “Where are we going?”
He turns his head to look at him, “I’m fulfilling my promise. I’ll treat you to dinner.”
Helen wants to laugh but he holds it in. He actually feels quite embarrassed to be caught right at the moment by Prapai. It’s as if he really cares about the free meal. Moreover, he still has other activities with the group, so how can he possibly leave?
“That's okay, actually I just wrote it as a joke. Um, we should head to the cafeteria now,” Helen
starts walking,” let's talk later.”
When he passes Prapai, his wrist is suddenly grasped on to.
Helen’s heart pounds. And from the corner of his eye, he sees Prapai's fingers wrapped around his wrist.
Prapai is standing beside Helen, and his face is very close to his. He lets go almost instantly, but he is still staring at him.
“Ask for leave, and wait for me downstairs. I’ll go get the car.” Prapai says with a poker face and walks away.
Helen looks at his back and Huffs,”What's with the attitude? Is it Because you're buying me dinner?”
~~~
The restaurant is relaxing. The big glass windows in the general dining area. Lamps with lotus leaf shaped shades hang from the ceiling. And the river is just outside the window.
