"YOU KNOW...WHAT? LET'S FORGET...ABOUT RYO... AND...LEAVE THIS PLACE!"
I suggested between breaths, greedily fighting for air as I rested my palms on my knees.
Togame didn't reply. He fixed his eyes on the building we just left with godspeed and his brows furrowed in suspicion.
"The sound stopped," I commented.
"Means it was meant to scare us off." Togame finally said, still glaring at the building.
"Nah, ghosts scare off people all the time too, come," I grabbed his wrist again and dragged him along with me. "Let's leave."
"Hey, it's okay." I gazed up to see his deadpan expression. "There's nothing wrong with running away, alright? It doesn't mean you're a coward. It simply means having a sense of safety, precaution and common sense."
Togame raised his brows. "Well, what if a friend was inside?"
So random.
"Huh?" I dropped his wrist. "Well, are you scared? Tell me first."
I instantly knew this wasn't about a haunted house. Togame Jo, I might have only known him for two days after a long separation, but I knew, his lifeless eyes held something else.
He went silent for a moment. "Not much..."
I'm not sure.
"So, dare to go inside?"
"Yes, why not?"
Which I assumed that actually meant, no I ran away.
I sighed. "Life hasn't been easy for you, hasn't it?"
He eyed me. "What do you mean?"
"Hang on..." My eyes widened. "Is your friend really there!?"
"Huh?"
A loud scream that likely belonged to a boy stretched throughout the lifeless neighbourhood, causing me to jump. Without a second thought, my hand hovered over my pocket where I hid my self-defence tools.
"WILL YOU STOP SCREAMING?!" A girl's voice bellowed.
The roaring of a motorcycle engine at a (possible) illegal speed, had enveloped the neighbourhood.
"SLOW DOWN, YOU'RE GONNA KILL US!" The boy argued back.
"OH, JUST SHUT IT!"
The motorcycle finally came into view, leaving a wavering trail of dust behind it. Once the rider saw us, they instantly hit the break and halted.
"Taiga!" I exclaimed.
His bewildered eyes shot up to me, panting while desperately wrapping his arms around the rider's waist as if holding for his dear life.
