He let out a snort. “Nothing, nothing, just asking. You got a pretty cool boyfriend.”
“Again, he’s not my boyfriend and why the hell did you say that, he beat you up.”
“What’s so wrong with me finding him great!?”
“What are you? A masochist or something,” I grinned. “saw you blushed when he complimented you.”
Ryo's cheeks went slightly pink. “Shut it, it’s not like that! I’m not stealing your boyfriend or anything.”
“Why do you blush? do you like-”
The telephone rang and I picked it up. They were orders for delivery, so I hastily prepared the orders and neatly packed them.
“Don’t steal anything.” I said to Ryo, grabbing a helmet and a scooter key.
“Duh!”
Outside, I climbed onto the delivery Vespa scooter we parked on the pavement, then put on my helmet, turned the engine on and began rolling past the streets.
The ride awakened me as the morning wind grazed past my skin and face, bringing in the smell of sea into my nostrils as my hair fluttered behind.
After flashing past several blocks, my attention was immediately fixed on a familiar figure from a distance.
My heart lightened at the sight of Togame who had worn a white sweatshirt instead of his usual monk clothing with his hair down in a mullet. Carrying a bag, he had just come out from a public bathing house.
I slowed down, deciding to call for him until a blonde-haired girl popped behind him. She tip-toed, and pressed her hands on his eyes, in an attempt to make him guess who she was. Togame seemed to instantly know who as the girl happily hopped in front of him.
My heart dropped.
The way Togame grinned and gazed at her.
I had never seen him like that.
Nor was it something that happened between friends.
“HEY, WATCH WHERE YOU GOING!” Snapping out of my thoughts I realised I had almost hit a middle-aged man as he stumbled backwards.
I immediately hit the break, causing me to lunge forward to the speedometer screen, followed by a sharp pain that travelled over my chest.
“You youngsters know nothing but to cause trouble!” The man was drunk as hell.
“Huh? Seriously sir, don’t you notice how slow I ran?” I argued. “Can’t even hit a kid with that.”
“Hey, lady! Did you just answer back to your elders?” Then the man went on and on.
As I rolled my eyes and noticed how Togame and the girl were staring at me. Embarrassment shot up through my whole being while holding an eye contact with Togame’s curious gaze.
Without another thought, I turned on the engine and evaded the man who dramatically shouted and played death onto the ground. Everyone ignored him.
Just as I was relieved by the thought of getting away from them, I realised my destination was only two buildings down from the bathhouse. I parked the scooter and with my head down, I delivered the orders to the people who were sitting around the tables placed in front of the convenience store.
I glanced at the bath house, Togame and the girl had disappeared out of sight. I began exchanging money casually until ice splintered in my stomach when I caught a white sweatshirt and a mullet from the corner of my eye. Whipping my head up, I was met with dark eyes instead of forest green eyes and a black surgery mask instead.
