I sighed in relief.

Finishing the delivery, I strode back to my scooter.

“THIEF!” A woman's scream cut through the air.

The man whom I had mistook for Togame, was sprinting out of the convenience store while the cashier shouted frantically behind him. Possessing incredible speed, the man turned a corner in a few seconds but I decided to hunt him down anyway.

Chasing the man through the neighbourhood with several cuts and turns, I didn’t want to raise my speed much in fear of an accident or hurting a passerby.  After running toward the man for like a minute, he took a left turn, I followed and was met with a forked road where I realised I had lost him.

“Dammit.” Then I chose the left path, which was lined with sloppy land that led to the beach on its side.

I rode until my eye lit up when it landed on my target, who was calmly strolling.

Speeding up the scooter, I wasn’t letting him go this time,

“Stop right there Mop Head!” I called, drawing nearer.

The man turned his head to me.

My heart stopped. This time, wide green eyes met mine.

I hit the brake but well, too late.

My scooter pummelled against Togame and I fell onto the road with an impact.

He flung back and began rolling down the sloppy land overgrown with grasses.

“Togame!” I cried.

I hopped onto my feet, ignoring my grazed skin while watching Togame who was still rolling down.

It would have been really funny if it was the thief.

Togame was finally able to halt by gripping hard onto the soil and grass nearby. He looked up at me, confusion and shock crossed his face.

“I’M SO SORRY!” I shouted at him, who was way back down. “I’M REALLY SO SORRY!”

Beside me, some passerby stopped their vehicles and came to check the situation.

“Son, are you alright?”

“Damn, he fell off that far!”

“Is he alive?”

“Are you hurt?”

“Can you climb back up, do you need help?”

More and more people started crowding us, that’s when the attentions were finally drawn onto me.

“Did you do this?”

“What happened?”

“You hit him? Why?”

“[Name]!” Among the crowd, I heard my father’s voice. “Are you alright?”

His eyes trailed at my grazed knees, elbows and chin. “What happened? I saw people rushing over here.”

“Dad…I hit Togame.”

“What?” Without a second thought, Dad crouched and slid down the steep land and stopped next to Togame, who was having difficulty standing up. My dad made his arm hang around his shoulder and slowly helped him climb to us.

“I’m fine, I can stand up now.” Togame said but Dad completely ignored him, hooking his arm around his calves and on his back, he hauled him up into a bridal-style.

“Hold it, son, your back hurts a lot I can tell.”

“Woah!” Chattering flooded through the crowds.
