Wanda woke up the next morning feeling lighter than she had in a long time. Instead of her thoughts being consumed by grief and loss, she found herself thinking about Kennedy. With a contented smile, she got out of bed and decided to head to the kitchen to start her day.
Carrying the bags of groceries that Kennedy had stashed in her room back to the kitchen to restock the snack cabinet, Wanda ran into Natasha in the hallway. Natasha greeted her with a knowing smirk.
"How was your sleep?" Natasha asked casually, though her eyes held a hint of amusement.
Wanda felt a pang of nervousness. Trying to play it cool, Wanda replied, "It was good."
Natasha raised an eyebrow as she continued walking. "You know those bags are a dead giveaway, right?" she remarked casually over her shoulder.
Wanda froze in her tracks, her heart sinking a little. "Did you tell anyone?" she asked, a touch of worry in her voice.
Natasha turned back to face her, a sly grin playing on her lips. "No, I had to wipe the security footage of you two sneaking back in last night. You're welcome" she added with a teasing tone before continuing down the hallway.
Groaning inwardly, Wanda continued into the kitchen. She set the bags down on the counter and began organizing the snacks into their respective places.
As Wanda placed the snacks into the cabinet with her name on it, she couldn't help but think about Kennedy. A smile tugged at her lips as she decided to split some of the snacks and place them into Kennedy's designated cabinet as well.
Wanda was putting the finishing touches on tidying the kitchen when she heard footsteps approaching. Turning around, she saw the familiar faces of the team making their way down for breakfast.
Tony sauntered in last, a playful grin on his face. "Good to see you out of your room, Witchy" he teased, causing Wanda to furrow her brow.
"Don't call me that" Wanda replied firmly.
Tony raised an eyebrow. "But Ken gets to call you that?"
Steve intervened with a warning tone, "Tony..."
Tony held up his hands in surrender, chuckling. "Okay" he conceded.
Steve approached Wanda with a gentle smile. "Eat up. We have a meeting in an hour" he informed her, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder before heading to the dining area.
As Natasha breezed into the kitchen, she casually reached into Kennedy's designated snack bin, snagging a granola bar without missing a beat. Wanda glanced over and recognized the familiar wrapper.
"Hey, that's for Kennedy" Wanda pointed out.
Natasha turned to Wanda with an amused smirk. "You owe" she stated simply.
Wanda hesitated, briefly considering a response, but opted for silence.
As the team settled into the conference room after breakfast, Tony strolled in, late as usual, "Is she late again? What am I saying, of course she is. She gets it from me" Tony remarked with a grin, nodding to himself.
Just as Steve was about to wrap things up, saying, "Okay, meeting ov—", the door swung open, and Kennedy rushed in, looking slightly disheveled. "Sorry I'm late," she muttered.
