Wanda woke up to the soft light filtering through the curtains of her room. She stretched lazily, feeling the warmth of Kennedy's presence beside her. Kennedy was already awake, her eyes soft as she watched Wanda.
"Morning, Little Witch" Kennedy murmured, brushing a strand of hair from Wanda's face.
"Morning" Wanda replied with a smile, leaning into the touch. She felt a comforting sense of normalcy as she got up and started her day.
This was their normal now. Kennedy had essentially moved into Wanda's room at the compound, and when Wanda wasn't needed for missions, she practically lived at Kennedy's apartment. They had settled into a routine that brought both of them a deep sense of contentment. Wanda would train in the early mornings and after training, they'd often meet for lunch dates. Then, the afternoon would end with movie nights or weekly dinners with Peggy and Sharon.
On days when Wanda had a mission, Kennedy was always extra clingy. It was a side of Kennedy that Wanda adored—affectionate and doting, always finding ways to be close. And today, Wanda was treated to this version of Kennedy because she had a mission tomorrow.
Despite Kennedy's well-known hatred for waking up early, she woke up just to watch Wanda train. Even though Wanda had gently insisted that Kennedy stay in bed, Kennedy wouldn't hear of it. If she could have held Wanda's hand during training, she would have. Instead, she settled for watching closely from the sidelines, her eyes never leaving Wanda.
As Wanda finished her morning training session, she headed to the shower, only to find Kennedy sitting right outside the bathroom door. Kennedy's voice drifted through the door as she tried to keep up a conversation, asking about anything and everything.
Yes, she did try to sit inside of the bathroom before Wanda kicked her out.
"Kenny, you know you can wait in bed, right?" Wanda called out, a smile in her voice.
"I know, but I like being close to you," Kennedy replied. "Plus, we can talk this way."
The moment Wanda stepped out of the shower, Kennedy was there, ready to intertwine their hands. They spent the rest of the morning in bed, going over the details of Wanda's mission for the next day. Kennedy listened intently, her fingers tracing soothing patterns on Wanda's arm.
When lunchtime rolled around, Kennedy perched herself on the counter, watching Wanda as she prepared lunch and dinner for the compound. It was Wanda's day to cook, and Kennedy was more than happy to keep her company.
Wanda moved gracefully around the kitchen, occasionally pausing to feed Kennedy a spoonful of whatever she was preparing. "How does it taste?" Wanda asked, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
Kennedy tasted the spoonful and grinned. "Needs sugar," she declared.
Wanda chuckled, shaking her head. "That's because you have a sweet tooth" she teased, planting a quick kiss on Kennedy's cheek before returning to her cooking.
A few moments later, Wanda approached Kennedy with an oatmeal cookie. Just as she was about to feed it to her, Wanda playfully pulled back and took a bite herself. Kennedy was about to protest, but before she could say anything, Wanda shoved the cookie into her mouth shutting her up.
"Girlfriend tax" Wanda said with a grin.
Kennedy quickly pulled the cookie out and trapped Wanda between her legs, pulling her in for a kiss. "This is my tax" she murmured against Wanda's lips before capturing them in a sweet kiss.
Wanda laughed, the sound light and happy. Oatmeal cookies had become a special tradition between them. After the night of their first date, when Kennedy confessed she was never allowed to have sugar as a kid, Wanda made it her mission to bake different snacks and pastries her mom used to make. Every weekend, Wanda would bake, and Kennedy got to enjoy the treats throughout the week.
