*Eva's POV*

I have no time to process the brief kiss, the fleeting connection that surged between us like a fire rekindled. Tom's command rings in my ears, sharp and clear: Run. So I run, even though every instinct screams for me to stay, to fight by his side.

My footsteps echo through the narrow passage, the cold stone walls pressing in around me

My footsteps echo through the narrow passage, the cold stone walls pressing in around me. My heart pounds in sync with each step, the pain of battle and Grindelwald's torment lingering in my muscles. Every turn of the labyrinthine corridor pulls me farther from Tom, and with each step, I fight the urge to turn back. He needs me to escape. I'm no use to him if I fall into Grindelwald's hands again.

I can't let that happen. I won't.

The shadows seem to swallow me as I press forward, the damp air clinging to my skin. The scent of earth and stone mingles with something colder, older—magic. My fingertips brush against the rough stone as I round another corner, steadying myself. Behind me, faint echoes of spells and the clash of magic reach my ears. Tom is still fighting, and I can feel the danger pressing closer with every second. My body aches, but I push on, my legs trembling beneath me.

He came for me. The thought plays over and over in my mind, bringing with it a strange comfort. Tom Riddle came for me.

The passage opens up into a wider chamber, and I pause, gasping for breath. The silence here is deafening. The only sound is the frantic beating of my heart, the shallow rise and fall of my chest. And then I hear him—Tom's voice, sharp and full of authority, cutting through the stillness like a blade.

"Eva? If this is a trap, I will have no mercy."

My heart skips a beat. I can't let him think I've betrayed him. Not after everything. I take off again, pushing myself harder, faster, following the sound of his voice. My footsteps echo louder now, panic rising in my throat.

"GRINDELWALD!" Tom's voice reverberates through the passage, filled with raw fury. "COME OUT, FILTHY COWARD. SHOW YOURSELF."

I quicken my pace, the urgency of his call pulling me forward, closer to him. I turn a corner, the passage narrowing again into darkness. Fear creeps in, icy and relentless. What if Grindelwald finds me before Tom does? What if Tom doesn't survive this battle?

But there—just ahead, I see him.

My heart stutters at the sight of Tom, his figure sharp and formidable in the flickering light. His dark hair is damp with sweat, his wand gripped tightly in his hand. He stands tall, defiant, unyielding, and for a moment, I'm struck by how different he seems. Colder, more dangerous than I remember. Yet he came for me. I have to trust that.

I take a step forward, about to call out his name when—

I take a step forward, about to call out his name when—

A hand clamps over my mouth, yanking me back into the shadows. Panic surges through me like wildfire, my body reacting instinctively. I thrash against the grip, my mind racing, but a voice hisses in my ear, cold and familiar.

"Shh... it's me."

My stomach drops as I twist around and find myself staring into Brutus's gleaming eyes. His expression is one of pure malice, his grin spreading slowly across his face. My heart sinks, fear twisting deep inside me.

"No," I whisper, my voice muffled beneath his hand. "Not you."

"Oh yes, my dear," Brutus sneers, tightening his grip on me. "It's me. And you're not going anywhere.."

I struggle, but his strength is overwhelming, he casted a spell, holding me like iron as he drags me deeper into the shadows, away from the passage, away from Tom. My heart pounds in my chest, and desperation claws at me as I try to summon even the faintest glimmer of magic.
But I'm spent—drained from the fight, from the tortures Grindelwald inflicted on me.
Brutus leans in, his breath hot and rancid against my ear.

"Grindelwald has special plans for you, Eva," he whispers. "You'll never escape him."

His words cut through me like a knife, the truth behind them sinking deep. I bite down hard on his hand, and Brutus yelps, loosening his grip just enough for me to break free. I stumble back, my breathing frantic.

Before I can react, the air around me hums with dark energy. A cold, familiar voice fills the chamber.

"Eva."

I freeze.

Grindelwald steps into view, his figure emerging from the darkness like a specter. His face is pale, his eyes sharp and calculating, yet somehow calm. Too calm.

"Did you really think you could escape me?" he asks, his voice smooth and mocking, each word laced with confidence.

I back away, but there's nowhere to run. My heart is racing, panic clawing at me, but I lift my chin. "I won't let you use me, Grindelwald," I say, my voice trembling but firm. "I'm not your pet. I'm not your slave."

A slow, almost pitying smile spreads across his lips. "Oh, but you are, Eva. You will fulfill your tasks."

He steps closer, his presence suffocating, and I feel the weight of his magic pressing down on me like a shroud. "You are extraordinary," he continues, his voice softening, as if he's speaking to an old friend. "Your power, your lineage—it's all part of something far greater than either of us."

His words swirl around me, but I refuse to listen. "I'm not part of your twisted plan for the 'greater good.'"

Grindelwald's smile fades, replaced by something darker, more sincere. "You still don't understand, do you? I believe in the greater good. And I believe you do, too. Deep down, you know that the world we seek to create is the one where you will thrive. You belong with us."

His words are poisonous, seductive in their conviction.

"I will never join you," I say, my voice trembling with fury. "I will never be yours."

His eyes darken, and in a flash, his wand is raised. "Then you leave me no choice."

Before I can react, a blast of icy magic surges through the air, slamming into me. It's cold, so cold it burns. I scream as the frost seeps into my skin, into my bones, freezing me in place.
My body locks up, and I fall to the ground, my limbs encased in a prison of ice.

Grindelwald crouches beside me, his voice a whisper as the darkness closes in. "I had hoped you would join me willingly one day, Eva. I had hoped that your strength and spirit would align with my vision. But you leave me no choice."

His words echo in my mind as the cold overtakes me, my vision blurring. My body, frozen and still, trembles beneath the surface of the ice.
