When I reached my unit, I cannot stop thinking about today's event like a CD playing over and over again in my memory. I sat down on the couch as I think of Pentagon. Something is not right on one of the branches and I need to check that out tomorrow, also, in another branch, it is reported that the prices are not right. It only means that the products sold there have higher prices than the market price. I also need to check that out.

Bad news is, those two locations are far from each other and so checking on them in just one day is impossible.

I fist out my phone to call for a hotel reservation when my investigator friend called.

"News?"

"Open up, I'm outside"

I let him in and as he sat down on the couch, he placed the files on the table.
I went through it and found his information, his date of birth, his parents

"His father didnt sign his birth certificate?"

"Yeah, and so as his stepfather so his last name remains Sim"

I saw his records from his past schools and it is evident to me that he is smart as he always manage to graduate on top of his class and he's always a scholar.

"Impressive how he maintains his scholarship until college"

"Well, he needs to . . he only has himself to support his studies. . . I mean, it is odd how his parents never gave him money for school"

"Are they like so poor?"

"No. .. Both parents are working. It is just the fact that they don't want him to benefit from it"

Ouch.

No wonder he looks really used to working on his own.

After going through his record, I sighed as I place them on the table.

"So, he is working at a convenience store to support himself? For five years?"

"Correct. .  and he just resigned after he got hired to be your Secretary"

I let out a sigh before going to the kitchen and grab some snacks and a can of soda. I think he has a lot more to share

"Oh, did you know that his stepfather quit his job after he found out Jake got a job in the convenience store? He basically let Jake work for the whole family. . ."

"Wait, Jaeyun said something today that I cannot get rid my mind off. He seems to not like to go to their home.  . he seems to not like his family and vice versa. . . he seems to have enough of them he even mentioned that if he ever lives there again he might kill himself"

His face suddenly became so worried and mad at the same time.

"You have no idea Sunghoon . . . I went to his neighborhood and I overheard their neighbor talking about his family. According to them, his mother almost aborted him but she didnt have the chance to . . . also, when Jake is growing up, he was literally deprived of a mother's love. . ."

"His mother never loved him?"

"Exactly, she even treats him like a slave . . . it worsens when his stepfather came to the picture. . ."

"He was beaten wasn't he?"

"Exactly. . . beaten, cursed to die . . . he was always seen by neighbors outside their house when it is raining. . ."
