Y/n POV
The second that our lunch period ended, I was counting down the minutes until school was over and I could see Steve again. I knew that it kind of sounded crazy that I was wanting to see him again after just eating lunch with him, but I needed this date to count since I would have to wait until next week to see him again after this.I tapped my foot in impatience as my math class worked silently. A few people gave me dirty looks, but they didn't bother me. Finally, after not being able to focus at all on my work, I got up and walked out of my class.
I took the bathroom pass of course, as to not look suspicious, but I needed to do something and to move around so I decided to walk the halls to relieve my restlessness. It wasn't like I was getting any work done anyways.
I would be lying if I said the thought of slipping out the door of the school didn't cross my mind each time I passed one, but I knew that I just needed to last until the end of the day. It wouldn't be that long. Plus, I left all of my stuff in my classroom, ugh. I walked back to my class just as it was ending, groaning internally because I had to last through two more classes before seeing Steve again.
...
My nightmare finally ended when the final bell rang and I sprinted out the doors of my classroom and the school in search of Steve. I found him standing outside looking for me, so I ran up behind him and yelled "let's go!" And grabbed his hand once he noticed my arrival.
I began to drag him away before quickly realizing that I had no idea where I was going, and he began to direct me in the correct direction. He brought me to the Dingo which I found very personal of him, considering it's where we sort of met.
I was really enjoying our time and I didn't want it to end. Our conversations were flowing so effortlessly and it really couldn't have been going better, besides the gnawing feeling inside of me that my mother was going to find out where I was and murder me.
It must have been transparent how I was feeling, because then Steve asked me "hey, is something wrong?" "Oh no, I just remembered that I needed to call my brother so he'd know where to come get me" I responded, remembering that I wouldn't be able to get home quickly without Josh knowing my location.
"Oh ok" he responded "do you want to go call him quickly?" He suggested and I turned to look outside at a pay phone.
"Yeah I think I should" I finally responded after thinking for a moment, "sorry I'll be just a minute" I apologized, and then got up and went outside to make my call.I put in my coin and dialed the number to my house, praying that again Josh would be the one to answer. I held my breath as the line rang, and my heart dropped to my stomach when I heard a woman speak "hello Marsh residence, whom are you in need of contacting?".
It was just the maid.
Holy shit that was close.I deeply sighed and spoke "hello, is Josh there?" "Yes, I will tell him that you're calling" she responded, and the line when quiet for a moment before I heard a "hello?".
"Josh it's y/n, I just wanted to let you know I'm at that Dingo diner, you know the one we went to before. Just so you know where to get me" "oh ok got it, I'll leave in just a second then, bye!" "Oh ok bye-" I tried to speak, but he had already hung up the phone.I hadn't wanted to leave yet. But I guess Josh is just trying to ensure that I don't get in trouble, so I'm not going to fight him on it.
