I'm Broken Enough

Y/n POV
It was finally Monday, which meant that my jail sentence was over! Well, it was practically a jail sentence because my mother was patrolling me for the rest of the week making sure that I was home right after school everyday.

But it was a new week, which meant that I could leave my home with no consequences! Which would be a lifesaver because my house was the very last place that I wanted to be right now. If you thought that I was sick of my family before, I definitely was now.

I left my class, headed to the cafeteria, and sat in my now regular seat with Steve and his gang.
"Freedom!" He exclaimed to me once I sat down next to him, making me laugh. "What are you talking about Steve?" Ponyboy questioned him, oblivious of my previous situation.

His question made Steve and I look at each other and laugh again, causing Ponyboy to roll his eyes at us. "Sorry Pony, he means that my grounding is finally over and I can leave my house again" I explained to him once our fit of laughter ended, "oh yeah right" he responded and continued to eat his lunch.

"So" Steve said turning towards me and resting his chin on his fist, "when are we finishing that date?". I blushed a little at his eagerness to take me out, again. I've never met someone with as much dedication as him.

"Whenever you're free Steve, you know that. When aren't you working this week?" "Today, Thursday, and Friday I think?" "Ok well how about we do Thursday then?" I tried to plan with him.

"So what you're saying is you don't want to see me today? Ok I see how it is you just hate me cool y/n" "oh Steve please, I just want us to have time to plan this out! And what good movies does the drive in ever play on a Monday?" I questioned him and he frowned, knowing that I was right.

"Ok fine then Thursday we go to the drive in" he agreed and I suddenly put my hand on his shoulder "but we can still hang out today! If you want to..." I started to trail off, realizing that maybe he didn't want to spend every second he had free with me and that I was being a bit overbearing, until he said "I'd love to y/n".

I smiled, slightly turning red again, and we finished eating our lunches before having to return to our classes for the rest of the day.

I couldn't be more excited for today. Although I had to wait a week and a half for it, today Steve and I finally finish our date.

Plus the best part, I told my parents that I was going to be working on a group project until late tonight so I won't get in trouble or have to worry about them trying to find me.

"You are seriously so slow" Steve laughed at me as I continued to put away my notebook and pencils into my backpack. The final bell had rung thirty seconds ago and my classroom was entirely cleared out except for me. Steve was leaning against the doorway waiting with his arms crossed.

"Oh shut up, I'm in no hurry" I teased him as I zipped close my bag. He groaned "well I'd rather to be anywhere but here, so if we could pick up the pace a little bit it would be much appreciated".

I stood up and began walking towards him annoyingly slow, and I successfully irritated him more. "You are not serious right now y/n" he spoke with his face completely deadpanned, making me laugh and then walk towards him again but at a normal pace this time.

"Sorry no I'm done now" I told him finally meeting him at the doorway. I gave him a small smile before walking away out into the vacant hallway.

"Man what am I gonna do with you" I heard him say, along with quick footsteps catching up to me, until we were side by side.

"I don't know, maybe take me out?" I smirked with a shrug, and he nudged me with his shoulder saying "oh yeah well I guess I should, huh?" "Yeah I guess you should".
