_____It had been about a half a year after Jess had left and I was finally coming to terms with myself. I had excepted it.
I had excepted that he wasn't coming back.
I opened my window letting the summer breeze wash over me. It was the first day of break and I was ecstatic.
I started getting ready for wedding and Jackson's wedding. I put on a pretty blue bridesmaids dress, similar to the ones Lorelai and Rory had. Mine had a low back and a cowl neckline.
I straightened my wavy hair before putting on some pretty makeup.
"Rory, you ready to leave?" I asked as I put on my black sling back heels downstairs.
"Yep let's go." She said grabbing the keys to her car off the table.
We drove over to the wedding meeting up with Lorelai.
"You guys look beautiful." Said Lorelai Christopher trailing after her.
It was a beautiful ceremony, I shed a few tears, laughed and smiled a whole ton. I was so happy for Sookie and Jackson.
After the ceremony the actual party started but it got too loud so I decided to go for a walk.
I sat onto the bridge to gather my thoughts when I started thinking about Jess. This was where we first kissed.
I heard rustling and turned to see what was going on.
There he stood.
My brain couldn't take it, it felt like an illusion.
I couldn't speak I just sat there staring at the boy on the other side of the bridge.
"Matilda." He said bringing me back to reality. It felt like my heart was breaking all over again.
I couldn't bring myself to say anything, I just got up and started walking in the opposite direction.
I heard quick steps behind me as my eyes started to burn with tears.
He grabbed my arm whipping me around, I quickly ripped my arm out his grasp and just stood there like a statue. My eyes were filled with tears but none of them were falling.
"Matilda." He sighed.
"No." I said in a shaky voice. My heart burned at his sight and my body felt like it couldn't take it.
"Please." He said right as I was about to walk again.
"Jess no! Do you understand what you did to me?" I yelled rage bubbling under my skin.
"Please let's sit." He whispered gesturing at a bench.
"No." I said.
"Matilda please." He sighed.
"No! You can't just waltz back into town expecting everything to be the same, it doesn't work like that! You don't know the pain you put me through, mentally and physically! So please stop!" I yelled a singular tear running down my cheek.
I started walking again when I heard him yell.
"Matilda I have loved you since the day I met you! When I left it felt like my body shut down, I couldn't breathe when you weren't there! I know I hurt you and you will never know how truly, truly sorry I am! I regretted leaving the second I got on that bus to New York!" He yelled. With my back still turned I stopped to listen for what he had to say.
"Matilda, you are the reason I get out of bed in the morning, you are the reason I cried for the first time in 4 years! No one and I mean no one has ever meant this much to me in my entire life and I'd be lying if I said you weren't the reason I haven't given up on myself. You are the reason I still walk this planet. I love you Matilda and no one could ever change that!"
I couldn't hold it in anymore I started to sob uncontrollably. I turned around seeing Jess standing there with teary eyes. Our lips crashed together into a bruising kiss. I could feel the tears running down my face, the passion and love I felt for Jess and my heartbeat gonna way way faster than it should.
We pulled apart slowly looking into each others red teary eyes.
"I love you." He said as more tears fell from his eyes.
"I love you." I said as he pulled me into his chest, hugging me so tightly that I couldn't breathe.
"Let me look at you." He whispered taking my face in his hands. He noticed the little scar under my hairline. Suddenly he started to cry again.
I took him into my arms kissing his head.
"I'm so sorry." He cried.
"It's not your fault." I whispered caressing his head. I held his cheeks and looked into his eyes smiling.
"I missed you." I whispered. A smile grew on his face, his eyes lit up at my words.
"I missed you." He said before pulling me into another passionate kiss.
"What now?" I asked.
"Will you keep being my girlfriend?" He asked looking into my eye.
"Is that when a question?" I grinned as he picked me up and twirled me around.
"I don't deserve you." He whispered making me smile and kiss him lovingly.
"Who knows you're back?" I asked.
"Luke." He replied as we sat onto the bridge.
"I don't know how I'm gonna tell everyone." I sighed resting my head on his shoulder.
"Why?" He asked.
"Well I just wasn't in the best shape after you left and they were so worried at the time so they might think this is a bad idea."
"Oh." He said sadly.
"I didn't mean to make you feel guilty."
"Don't worry I understand. I'm sorry for everything." He said looking at me with a guilty look.
"I forgive you." I smiled.
We said good bye and I walked back to the wedding the happiest girl ever.
He was back for good this time....
Or so I thought.
