Samruddhi's POV:
Today is my engagement day, but I don't feel any excitement. In fact, I don't feel anything at all. I'm sitting at my dressing table, fully dressed and ready to go downstairs. There's a fake smile plastered on my face, but it doesn't reach my eyes. I look at my reflection, trying to find some semblance of happiness, but all I see is a blank expression.
As I continued to stare into the mirror, there was a knock on the door. After a moment, Anisha, Samiksha, and Snehal walked in, looking beautiful in their dresses.
"You look so beautiful, Samu," Anisha said with a huge smile on her face, her eyes shining with excitement.
"Yes, bhai is going to have a hard time controlling himself around you, Bhabhi," Samiksha teased, grinning mischievously.
A genuine smile crept onto my face at their compliments. "You guys look beautiful too. Whose bridesmaids are you, after all?" I chuckled, and they all laughed along with me.
"Let's click some photos," Vanya suggested. We all nodded, and soon, we were posing and capturing the moment together.
After some time, Mumma entered the room with Radha Chachi. Chachi walked over to me and said, "Kisi ki nazar na lage meri bachi ko" (May no evil eye fall upon my child), her voice filled with affection.
Chachi placed a small black dot behind my ear, a traditional gesture to ward off the evil eye. I felt a warm sense of comfort from her gesture, even though my emotions were still a tangled mess. Mumma came over, her eyes brimming with tears of joy and pride. She adjusted the dupatta on my head and kissed my forehead gently.
"You look so pretty, bacha," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. "Today is a big day, and I want you to be happy." I nodded, trying to force another smile.
"Let's go everyone is waiting downstairs." chachi said and we went towards.
As I descended the stairs, I noticed the beautifully decorated hall, with elegant arrangements and soft lighting creating a warm ambiance. All the guests turned to look at me, and their attention made me feel a surge of nervousness. My eyes wandered toward the stage, where Sid stood, looking at me with a gentle smile. For some reason, his gaze made me feel a mix of emotions I couldn't quite understand.
As I reached the last step, Sid stepped forward and extended his hand towards me. I hesitated for a moment, looking from his hand to his eyes. There was something different about them today—a glimmer that suggested he had been waiting for this moment for a long time. I placed my hand in his, and a shiver ran through my body at the touch.
"All mine," Sid whispered softly in my ear, and we both made our way toward the centre of the hall. As we walked, red rose petals began to shower down on us, bringing a smile to my face. I love flowers, especially red roses. I glanced at Sid, who was already looking at me, and I whispered, "You remembered."
He nodded with a gentle smile, and just as we reached the centre of the hall, our families stepped forward with rings.
Sid's mother stepped forward with a small silver tray holding the engagement rings. The sight of the rings made my heart skip a beat. They were beautiful couple rings, exactly the way I had always imagined. He remembered everything, every little detail. But why Sid?... Why?... A wave of confusion washed over me as I looked into his eyes. I could feel my own eyes brimming with tears, but I couldn't let them fall—not here, not now, with our families watching. I silently questioned him, searching his face for answers. But Sid just smiled as if nothing.
