Steve:Get away! Get back!

Peggy who was going to be the one to cover it herself was stunned by Steve's selflessness to protect the others without a second thought; Logan grabbed Steve and pulled him off the ground and held up the grenade only to see it was a dummy grenade as Steve asked the obvious question

Steve:Is this a test?

Phillips turned Dr. Erskine as he could see the smirk on the doctor's face; this was the doctor's way of showing that Steve had the guts and that this is why he was chosen

Colonel Phillips:He's still skinny

Phillips said getting the last word in before walking away to deal with other pressing matters; Steve turned to Dr. Erskine and gave the skinny man an appreciative nod for proving him right

"So. You gonna tell how this is gonna work out for me?"

Logan asked as he sat across from Dr. Erskine, the doctor had come back after having a good talk with Steve yet Logan wanted to know just how they we're going to pull this off

Dr. Erskine:To sum it up? They have managed to liquefy the adamantium and with a series of drillers, that will pierce your skin and slowly release the liquefied adamantium into your skeleton fusing it into you as one

Logan had a faint visual conjuring up within his mind; this sounded all too familiar but there was a fair chance of what he was thinking about was going to happen as Dr. Erskine goes on

Dr. Erskine:Once the adamantium is fully integrated into your skeleton, it will cool down and hopefully your healing factor kicks in to bring you back

So they were counting for his healing factor to bring him back after the procedure had run its course; there's no way he was going to be put to sleep besides his healing factor would just push through it and wake him up

Dr. Erskine:We won't be able to use anesthesia to put you under. You need to be fully awake for the entire procedure, it will be very painful..

Logan sighed and tilted his head a bit to the left and smiled a little having already figured as much but didn't want to say anything in case he got something wrong

"Not surprising. Can't risk me being just a lump of dead metal, huh?"

But what the doctor said next truly surprised Logan although he couldn't express it physically; he did it mentally and it was a very valid response

Dr. Erskine:Luckily, you will also be injected with same serum as Mr Rogers. Think of it as a stabilizing agent to ensure that you survive and push you to that come out a new and even stronger man

This meant that on top of his powers and abilities, he'd be superior than Steve himself in every way not that he was an egotistical kind of man although he did wonder one thing as he asked Dr. Erskine

"Wouldn't that just be a waste of the serum?"

For all Logan knew this could have some bad side effects on him due to the serum amplifying everything that is already there inside of one person, bad becomes worse, good becomes great alas Dr. Erskine reassured Logan's worries

Dr. Erskine:I assure you this is completely necessary. If not then for all we know you could get poisoning later on which would slowly kill you over the years and be very excruciating to even use your claws

Before his reincarnation, Logan recalled that Wolverine had gotten adamantium poisoning and it was slowly killing over the years so if this was a way to stop from happening then he had no problem going through with it despite what other people may say about it

Dr. Erskine:I do need you to promise me one thing, Logan. Don't be what people control who you are, be what who you wish to be

The doctor holds out his hand as Logan shakes it, he knew this poor man's fate but he wasn't going to let this man die; the TVA can go fuck itself if even so much as tried to intervene

"You got my word, Doc"

They part from their handshake as Dr. Erskine pulls out the same bottle that was used for Steve yet the doctor knew Logan couldn't drunk that easily; so for tonight they would share a drink for what came next and all that came with it
