The Panda and the Fox Reboot: Kung Fu Panda

Daybreak. In a forest, in an unknown distance from the city, an unconscious Po and Yue float down the river, their fur singed from the blast, and Yue's robe was burned in some areas. Yue was on top of Po as they continued to float down the river. They come to a stop at a low bridge. Standing on the bridge is a familiar elderly goat who pokes Yue on the side of her head several times with her cane. Sometime later, Po is woken by water drops falling on his head, finding himself inside the ruins of a small house, bandaged and covered with acupuncture needles. He spots the Soothsayer sitting in front of a small fire, boiling something inside a pot. Po looks to his left and sees Yue sleeping on her side, also bandaged and covered with acupuncture needles.

Po: *Whispers* Yue... wake up...

With a heavy groan, Yue manages to open her eyes weakly, wincing when she rises. She glanced at Po and was about to speak, only for him to motion to be quiet, pointing at Soothsayer, who still had her back turned towards the siblings. Po attempts to crawl away on his back silently, wincing as he does so. The Soothsayer raises her head slightly when one of the floorboards creaks. Po freezes... then goes limp, playing dead, with Yue mentally face palming at that. After a few seconds, Po opens his eyes to find Soothsayer right in his face.

Po: Ah!

He jumps, then groans in pain. Soothsayer silently holds out a cup of unknown liquid.

Po: Yeah... like you're going to get me to drink-

Soothsayer sticks a needle in his forehead, making his eyes bulge and his mouth pop wide open. She tosses the medicine in his mouth and yanks out the needle, making him swallow. Whatever she gave him makes him gag as Soothsayer approaches Yue with another cup of medicine towards her. Not wanting to have a needle stuck in her forehead, Yue begrudgingly takes the cup and drinks it, gagging as Soothsayer returns to the fire.

Soothsayer: If I wanted you two dead, I would have left you two in that river.

Yue: Why save us then?

She and Po begin removing the needles from themselves.

Soothsayer: So you two can fulfill your destiny.

Po: What are you talking about? Where are we?

He notices that they are among the burned remains of a small village.

Po: What is this place?

Yue: And what happened to it?

Soothsayer: I am surprised that you two remember so little... but then again, you were both so little when it happened.

Yue: What are you talking about?

Po suddenly hears screaming inside his head and cries out in pain. He crawls towards the edge of the house ruin as Yue attempts to console him, only for her to hear two people screaming in her head as she grabs it in pain. Soothsayer gazes at them.

Soothsayer: Perhaps you two do remember.

Yue: Remember what?

Po: It's just a stupid nightmare.

Soothsayer: Nightmare... or memory?

Po and Yue gaze into a puddle just outside the ruin. Both their reflections change into that of an infant panda and fox laughing happily at their older selfs. They both look up as another flashback takes over. For Po, he sees a village full of pandas happily living their lives. Panda children rush by flying kites as farmers work in the fields. Po's parents wave sweetly as baby Po climbs down the stairs outside his house, clutching a tiny panda doll. For Yue, she sees her mother, Su Hua, and a male red fox who resembled Su Hua, visiting the Panda Village. Su Hua was holding baby Yue in one arm... and another fox kit in the other arm, one who was male and was sleeping peacefully. Su Hua was talking with Po's parents as baby Yue curiously looks around, spotting baby Po accidentally trip over the steps, making her giggle. Back to reality, Adult Po and Yue stagger out the ruin as their memories return to them.
